Following on 8/12 are Michael A. Simpson’s Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989) in 4K Ultra HD, and Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center (2006) in 4K + Blu-ray, as well as a 4K Steelbook of Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers (2008).
On 8/19, look for a 4K Steelbook of Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell (2009) as well as the Blaxploitation Classics: Volume Two 4K + Blu-ray box set, which features Foxy Brown (1974), Friday Foster (1975), Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970), Bucktown (1975), Slaughter (1972), and Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off (1973).
And on 8/26, you’ll get a double feature 4K + Blu-ray edition of James Sbardellati’s Deathstalker (1983) and Jim Wynorski’s Deathstalker II (1987), as well as Ringo Lam’s City on Fire (1987) on 4K + Blu-ray—the first installment of Shout!’s Hong Kong Cinema Classics line.
Also today, Deaf Crocodile has set Jiří Barta’s stop-motion classic The Pied Piper (1986) for Blu-ray release on 6/20. The package will also include additional Barta short films. Also coming to Blu-ray on 6/10 is Arūnas Žebriūnas’ The Devil’s Bride (1974).
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that Richard Stanley’s Hardware (1990) is coming soon in 4K Ultra HD. Also coming soon on Blu-ray is José Giovanni’s Birds of Prey (1968), featuring a recent restoration by StudioCanal.
Here’s something exciting that we first told you was coming way back in April: GKids has revealed that they’re bringing a new 4K remaster of Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi’s Shin Godzilla (2016) to theaters here in the US on 8/14. It’ll feature a new Dolby Atmos mix. With a little luck, we also expect a physical 4K Ultra HD release to follow from GKids, likely via their distribution deal with Shout! Factory.
And finally a quick update: Lionsgate Limited’s Father’s Day Sale is on now and will run until 6/15. Look for their next batch of titles (which we revealed on The Bits last week: Frailty, The Surfer, and Ghoulies III) to be announced on 6/10.
That’s all for now! Stay tuned...
