We’ve got one more new disc review for you to close out the week here at The Bits, which is…

Tim’s review of Gordon Hessler’s Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971) in 4K Ultra HD from Hammer Films in the UK!

Meanwhile, I’ve just gotten my hands on Arrow’s new Forbidden Planet (1956) 4K UHD release, and I can’t wait to give it a spin—that’s another “holy grail” title for me personally, and I bet for a lot of you guys as well. Watch for a review early next week.

All right… speaking of Arrow, the label’s November has indeed been revealed, and it’s a dandy!

Here’s what’s coming...

  • the Coen Brothers’ Fargo (1998) – 4K (UK only)
  • John Badams’ Wargames (1983) – 4K (UK only)
  • Desmond Davis’ Clash of the Titans (1981) – 4K / Blu-ray (US, UK, Canada)
  • Robert Aldrich’s The Dirty Dozen (1967) – 4K / Blu-ray (US, UK, Canada)
  • ShawScope: Street Gangs of Hong Kong – Blu-ray (US, UK, Canada) – includes The Delinquent (1973), The Teahouse (1974), Big Brother Cheng (1975), Big Bad Sis (1976), The Big Holdup (1975), The Convict Killer (1980), The Brothers (1979)
  • The Blade Spares None (1971) / The Hurricane (1972) – Blu-ray (US, UK, Canada)

Not bad at all! And The Dirty Dozen is a very nice surprise. Here’s hoping they’re going to do Where Eagle Dare (1968) at some point too. [Read on here...]

Here’s what they’ll all look like…

Arrow Video's November 2026 slate

Given today’s announcements, look for Logan’s Run (1976) to show up likely in the December slate.

Meanwhile, Imprint Films has just announced a new Bardot: Bombshell 4K UHD + Blu-ray hardbox release that includes the Brigitte Bardot classics Come Dance with Me (Voulez-vous danser avec moi?) (1959), Viva Maria! (1965), and Bardot (2025) on Blu-ray, as well as A Very Private Affair (Vie privée) (1962) and Contempt (Le mépris) (1963) on 4K UHD + Blu-ray. Bardot is a worldwide first on Blu-ray while A Very Private Affair is a 4K UHD first. The set is limited to 1500 copies and pre-orders open on 9/15 for a 10/28 release. Here’s a look…

Bardot: Bombshell (4K + BD Hardbox)

Finally today, our friends at StudioCanal in the UK have just launched a new label called StudioCanal Classics. This will include both theatrical and physical media releases, and some of the forthcoming Blu-ray and/or 4K disc releases due before the end of the year include the Coen Brothers’ Blood Simple: Director’s Cut (1984) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), Joseph Losey’s Accident (1967), Richard Attenborough’s Chaplin (1992), Jean-Pierre Melville’s Un Flic (1972), and of course Michael Mann’s Manhunter: The Final Cut. They’re also working on a new David Lynch Collection for release in 2027.
