Both will be released on 66GB discs, but (like Master and Commander) we assume that Disney and Sony have been very careful to optimize the video encoding so it shouldn’t matter. And do keep in mind that by choosing 66GB discs vs. 100GB in this case, the studio has a far better chance of keeping them both in stock more consistently.
TRON will feature a 2.20:1 widescreen image, audio in English Dolby Atmos, 2.0 Dolby Digital Descriptive Audio, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and French 5.1 DTS Digital Surround, and the following extras (included on the Blu-ray): Audio Commentary with the filmmakers, 4 Deleted Scenes, a Photo Tronology, The Tron Phenomenon, The Making of Tron, 4 Development featurettes (Early Development of Tron, Early Lisberger Studios Animation, Computers are People Too, and Early Video Tests), 4 Design featurettes with intro by Lisberger (Syd Mead Discusses Lightcycle Design, Lightcycles Magi Animation Test, Recognizer: Space Paranoids Video Game – Letterbox, Recognizer: Space Paranoids Video Game – Full Screen), 5 Storyboarding featurettes (The Storyboarding Process, Creation of Tron Main Title: Moebius Storyboards, Storyboard-to-Film Comparison: Introduction By Storyboard, Storyboard-to-Film Comparison: Lightcycle Chase Story Board Only, Storyboard-to-Film Comparison: Lightcycle Chase Final), 4 Digital Imagery featurettes (Digital Imagery in Tron, Beyond Tron, Role of Triple I, Triple I Demo), and 2 Music featurettes (Lightcycle Scene with Alternate Carlos Music Tracks, End Credits with Original Carlos Music).

Finally today, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of the great Canadian First Nations actor Graham Greene, who started in many great films over the years including Dances with Wolves, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Wind River, and The Green Mile, as well as such TV shows as Defiance and Longmire. But it’s his appearance in Michael Apted’s Thunderheart (1992) that stands out most in my memory. That’s a truly great film, and if you haven’t seen it I can think of no better way to honor his memory (it’s available Digitally in 4K and on remastered Blu-ray). Greene was 73. You can read more here.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned…
