Also today, there’s word that a lost John Ford film—The Scarlet Drop (1918), staring Harry Carey—has been found in a warehouse in Santiago, Chile. Apparently, the warehouse was set to be demolished, and the day before its owner discovered a trove of films once owned by a local collector. You can read more here via The National.
Finally, I just wanted to let you all know that Part 2 of my recent guest appearance on TV showrunners David Mandel (VEEP, Seinfeld) and Ryan Condal’s (House of the Dragon) excellent The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of podcast is now live on YouTube! Here’s the viewing link:
(Note that it’s also available for your listening pleasure everywhere you find your favorite podcasts online.)
This is a show that’s primarily about movie and TV prop collecting, but movies on physical media are a critical part of that hobby—particularly 4K Ultra HD, as its greater resolution often allows for screen-used props to be authenticated to the scene they were used in. David and Ryan are great guys and we had a blast talking movie discs, the 4K format, 4K remastering, and of course prop collecting (along with collecting in general) and more. My HAL 9000 replica makes an appearance, and I even have the chance to show off some of my original 1960s NASA spaceflight patches. By the way, you can view Part 1 via this link if you missed it.
And with that, from all of us here at The Digital Bits, we’d like to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday!
Back soon. Stay tuned!
