Now then, the big release news today is that Shout! Factory has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital release details for Ira Steven Behr’s What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary. Look for it to arrive on 8/6 in two BD versions... a standard Blu-ray that will be widely available in stores and a Blu-ray Special Edition only available directly from the Shout! website. There will also be DVD and Digital versions available that same day.
Both BDs will include An Intro from Ira, 3 featurettes (A Brief History of Deep Space Nine, Behind the Scenes at the Variety Photoshoot, and More from the Fans), plus What We Left Out: Deleted Scenes, an HD Remaster Discussion with the Filmmakers, and the Theatrical Trailer. To this, the Special Edition BD will add a bonus disc that includes A Roundtable Look at The Making of the Documentary (a 50-minute discussion with co-director and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine showrunner Ira Steven Behr, co-director David Zappone, producer Kai de Mello-Folsom, producer/editor Joseph Kornbrodt, and producer/editor Luke Snailham) and A Musical Reunion with Composers Dennis McCarthy and Kevin Kiner. In other news today, Shout! has also set Turbo! A Power Rangers Movie for release on Blu-ray on 7/30. It will include Ranger Tales: A Look Back at Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, the Original Featurette, and a trailer.
Film Movement is releasing a new 2K restoration of John Woo’s Heroes Shed No Tears on Blu-ray on 6/25. Extras will include an Interview with star Eddy Ko, and a new essay by Grady Hendrix.
Twilight Time has announced the extras for their June slate of Blu-ray titles, due on 6/18. They’ll include: Hello Frisco, Hello (1943 – with an isolated score track, the Hello Again: The Remaking of Alice Faye featurette, 2 Hello Frisco, Hello radio programs, and the trailer), Mother Wore Tights (1947 – includes a Mother Wore Tights radio program), Pin Up Girl (1944 – includes audio commentary with film historian Richard Schickel, the This Is It deleted musical number, and the trailer), and Hussy (1980 – includes the trailer).
Meanwhile, Lionsgate is releasing The Poison Rose on Blu-ray and Digital on 6/25. The film stars John Travolta and Morgan Freeman.
And finally today, a number of new Blu-ray and 4K titles are available for pre-order on Amazon, including Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and Sony’s Stand By Me and Brightburn.
