KLSC has also announced the 7/25 Blu-ray release of Anthony Mann’s A Dandy in Aspic (1968), Sidney Lumet’s The Anderson Tapes (1971), and Bernard Girard’s Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966).
Also, we’ve been able to confirm with Disney that their Blu-ray 3D version of Avatar: The Way of Water, which was announced yesterday for release on 6/20, will be split over two BD-50 discs to ensure high image quality.
Note that the original Avatar in 4K Ultra HD is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and 4K Ultra HD versions of Avatar: The Way of Water are also now listed on Amazon, but aren’t yet available for pre-order. We do expect the listings to go live very soon, however, so here are the cover art links to each title... [Update: All of these pre-order links are now live.]
As you can see, we’ve also included the 4K Ultra HD cover art and Amazon links for William Friedkin’s To Live and Die in L.A. (1985) (street date 7/18) and Fraser C. Heston’s Needful Things (1993) (street date 7/25), both from Kino Lorber Studio Classics and both now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
Finally today, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced the full list of film and TV titles that are available in full 4K with HDR on their new Max streaming service, and—surprise—it’s eight times more titles than were included on the previous HBO Max service! Included are all of the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Dark Knight Trilogy films, as well as Dune: Part One, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Matrix films, The Last of Us, Barry, the recent His Dark Materials series, and even From the Earth to the Moon! Plus lots of classic films are being included in 4K too, like East of Eden and Casablanca. You can see the full list here. 4K access will cost you $19.99 a month, but for some of you it might be worth it.
Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...
