Now then, Warner Home Video has just set The Leftovers: The Complete Second Season for Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release on 2/9 (SRP $44.96 and $39.98 for the discs). All 10 episodes will be included, but there’s no indication that there will be any special features in the set via the press release.
Meanwhile, Universal and Syfy have set the upcoming Childhood’s End miniseries for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/1.
Lionsgate has announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release of MI-5 for 2/9. This is the big screen continuation of the outstanding British spy TV series MI-5... or Spooks, as it’s known overseas. Extras will include deleted scenes and The Making of MI-5 featurette. The film stars Game of Throne’s Kit Harington (alias John Snow).
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Open Season: Scared Silly on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/8.
Well Go USA has set The Assassin for Blu-ray and DVD release on 1/26.
And Shout! and Scream Factory have set Jack’s Back for Blu-ray release on 1/26, including new audio commentary with writer/director Rowdy Herrington, the new The Making of Jack’s Back featurette, and the film’s theatrical trailer.
Shout! and Scream also have the music documentaries Slash: Raised on the Sunset Strip and Take Me to the River for Blu-ray and DVD on 2/5, followed by Species II and Species III/Species: The Awakening on BD on 3/8, Invasion U.S.A. and Braddock: Missing in Action III on BD on 3/15, and The Sicilian: Director’s Cut on BD on 3/29.
Finally today, our friends over at the Geek League of America podcast have just posted a new interview with Blu-ray producer Michael Pellerin, another longtime friend of The Bits, whose work includes the great special features on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Blu-rays and DVDs. There are a number of interesting pieces of information included in the interview, among them the fact that Pellerin and director Peter Jackson have saved about 20 hours worth of additional material for a potential (eventual) Middle Earth Ultimate Blu-ray box set of all the films (if Warner chooses to release one) and that Jackson himself would like to direct an in-depth documentary chronicling the making of The Lord of the Rings films for such a release. We’ll leave you with a look at the new Blu-ray cover artwork for many of the titles mentioned above, with clickable Amazon.com pre-order links if available…
