We begin the day with a pair of new Blu-ray reviews from Stephen... Bill Forsyth’s Breaking In (1989) from Kino Lorber Studio Classics and Harry Watt’s The Overlanders (1946) from Umbrella Entertainment.

Also here at The Bits today, we’ve got another “bonus” History, Legacy & Showmanship column for you that’s leftover from 2021, in which Michael and film historian/author Raymond Benson celebrate the 50th anniversary of Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show (1971). Enjoy!

In title announcements today, the big news is that Scream Factory has officially set Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U for release on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo on 4/26, just as we’ve been expecting for the last week or so.

Expect at least HDR10 high dynamic range and we’ll post the other AV details when we have them. [Read on here...]

The good news is that Happy Death Day will include a new audio commentary with director Christopher Landon and actor Jessica Rothe, while Happy Death Day 2U will include a new commentary with Landon, Rothe, and actor Sarah Yarkin. You can see the cover artwork for the first film above-left, and the second below.

Also today, GKids and Shout! Factory have announced a pair of new Blu-ray Steelbooks from Studio Ghibli—Only Yesterday and The Tale of Princess Kaguya—both due on 4/19.

Scream Factory has also set The Ice Demon for Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital release on 4/5, followed by Peter Graham Scott’s Night Creatures (1962) for Blu-ray release on 4/19, and Wes Craven’s Cursed (2005) for Blu-ray release on 4/26. The latter two will be Collector’s Editions.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Alain Jessua’s Eurocrime thriller Armageddon (1976) for Blu-ray release on 4/5. Following on 4/12 is an exciting double-feature: Robert Fuest’s The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) and Dr. Phibes Rises Again! (1972). Also newly revealed as “coming soon” from the company is a Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema VIII Blu-ray box set containing Jack Hively’s Street of Chance (1942), Ford Beebe’s Enter Arsène Lupin (1944), and Irving Pichel’s Temptation (1946), as well as Carlo Campogalliani’s Son of Samson (1960).

And Capelight Pictures will release the South Korean actioner Hard Hit on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/22.

Here’s a look at the cover artwork for Happy Death Day 2U, along with Ordinary People and Robocop: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc (Amazon pre-order links are included where available)...
