RLJ Entertainment is releasing AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live – Season 1 as a Blu-ray Steelbook package on 9/10.
Mill Creek Entertainment has set Icons Unearthed: Fast & Furious for Blu-ray release on 9/10 as well.
And Universal has now listed their CG-animated Despicable Me 4 for pre-order on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on Amazon. The street date is still TBA.
In other news this afternoon, it appears that Skydance and Shari Redstone’s National Amusements have renewed talks and reached a tentative deal for the former to purchase Paramount Global, though it still has to be approved by the board. At this point, what I care about most is that A) Paramount Home Entertainment continues its support of 4K Ultra HD and B) please dear God somebody steer the Star Trek franchise away from its current meta-modern deconstruction/demolition derby and back toward something that actually resembles authentic Trek. You know: spirit of exploration, optimistic vision of the future, everyone respected equally because we’re already past prejudice, less whiny-cryey-retcony, more bolding going, science fiction action/adventure. Star Trek: Legacy anyone? Anyway, you can read more here at Variety.
Also, our friend Jeffrey Morris has just shared a new production update for his forthcoming The Eagle Obsession documentary on YouTube. This, as you may know, is a look back at one of science fiction’s most interesting spacecraft, the Eagle Transporter from the 1970s British series Space: 1999 (of which I am personally a big fan). Jeffrey is nearing the end of production and will soon be moving into post, for which he’s still raising money. So if you’d like to contribute, be sure to visit the official website here. In the meantime, here’s that video update...
And finally today, is anyone in the market for a new JVC 4K projector for your home theater? My friend John Schuermann is the owner of one of the best home theater dealers around, The Screening Room A/V in Colorado Springs, Colorado (he’s also the person who helped me select my new JVC projector for The Digital Bits’ HQ).
Once again, John has some great deals on A-stock JVC projectors that might interest some of you. Here’s John to explain...
The Screening Room just bought all the remaining inventory of discontinued JVC DLA-RS4100 (aka the NZ9) and DLA-RS3100 (aka the NZ8) projectors from one of JVC’s biggest distributors and is passing on special closeout pricing. Only limited quantities remain of the following two models:

These are all BRAND NEW A Stock units with a full three-year advanced replacement warranty. As noted, these are all on final closeout, so once they’re gone, they’re gone!

A little too rich for your blood? We’re happy to announce that the entry level JVC projector, the DLA-RS1100 / NP5 is on sale today thru August 31, 2024 at $4799, down from $5999! This is an amazing projector, which did extremely well at the aforementioned shootout, outperforming competing projectors at over four times its price point. Just ask Bill about how good these are–he owns one! These are also in-stock and ready to ship!

All right, this is Bill again. John’s not kidding: The JVC DLA-RS1100/NP5 is fantastic. So don’t hesitate for a second if you’re interested.
We’re going to leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few big forthcoming titles that are newly available for pre-order on Amazon (just click on the covers to visit their respective pre-order pages)...
