BREAKING: Here’s one you’ve been waiting for… Lionsgate sets YOUNG GUNS (1988) for 4K Ultra HD on 12/5!

As some of you might recall, several weeks ago here at the site we mentioned that Lionsgate was going to be bringing Christopher Cain’s ever-popular western Young Guns (1988) to the 4K Ultra HD format on 12/5.
Well... low and behold, the studio has now officially announced it!
So here are all the confirmed details, including the complete disc A/V specs as well as a list of the special features that you’ll find in the package.
Note that you will also find both the wide release 4K UHD cover artwork, and your first look at the Best Buy-exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook art, below the break.
Timed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this iconic modern western, Young Guns will be released in a wide 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital edition—as well as a Best Buy-exclusive 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Steelbook—on December 5th by Lionsgate. The Steelbook edition will feature original artwork by graphic designer and illustrator Grzegorz Domaradzki.
This is the first time the film will be available in 4K, with a brand-new 1.85:1 transfer featuring Dolby Vision HDR. Included will be a new Dolby Atmos audio mix, as well the original 2.0 stereo original theatrical mix. Additionally, this is the first time the film will be available on Digital. All right, we’ve got one more Star Trek 4K post for you today...
In addition to confirmation that the Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Director’s Edition is finally being restored in 4K Ultra HD (see our post here), Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced that (as expected) the Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection will indeed arrive in stores on 9/7 (9/6 in the UK, 9/8 in France, 9/9 in Germany).
An 8-disc set, it will include the newly-remastered films in BOTH 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Disc formats (scanned in 4K from original elements), along with Digital codes for the Theatrical Cuts of each film. The remastered films will also be available as Blu-ray singles.
All of the 4K discs will include Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10 high dynamic range. We’re working to confirm the audio formats, but we believe that each will also include new Dolby Atmos sound mixes. [Editor’s Note: Scratch that. We’ve heard back officially from Paramount and have learned that each of the discs will include audio in 7.1 Dolby TrueHD format, as found on the previous Blu-ray releases.] [Read on here...]

“Paramount and Paramount+ are excited to announce that a full restoration of the Director’s Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture has been greenlit.”

IT’S OFFICIAL: Paramount and Lucasfilm will release the INDIANA JONES 4-FILM COLLECTION on 4K Ultra HD on 6/8!
All right, that was fast!
It’s now official: Paramount Home Entertainment and Lucasfilm have indeed set the Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection for release on 4K Ultra HD on 6/8.
Here’s a nice surprise: The set will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio after all. Per studio confirmation, the exact audio options on the US SKUs will include in English (Dolby Atmos), as well as 5.1 in French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Subtitles will be available in English, Cantonese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Thai.
The 5-disc set will contain all four of the existing films—Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull—along with a Blu-ray Disc of legacy bonus features. It does NOT appear that the set will include any new features. You will, however, get Digital copies of each film.
The collectible packaging will be available in two varieties: Regular and Steelbook (exclusive to Best Buy in the US), each with a slipcase. You can see both pictured below (the regular version is also visible at left).

IT’S OFFICIAL: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy & The Hobbit Trilogy arrive on 4K Ultra HD on 12/1!
All right Tolkien fans, this is it!
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just provided us with the official confirmation: Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy will officially arrive on 4K Ultra HD on 12/1.
The Hobbit Trilogy will include The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, in both the theatrical and extended versions.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will include The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, again each in both the theatrical and extended versions. [Read on here...]
Disney & Lucasfilm officially announce Star Wars: The Last Jedi for Blu-ray, DVD & 4K UHD on 3/27
All right, just as we expected, Disney and Lucasfilm have just officially announced director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on 3/27, with the Digital/Movies Anywhere release set for 3/13.
Here’s something exciting for 4K fans from the press release: “This release will mark Disney’s first title available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in both Dolby Vision™ HDR and Dolby Atmos® immersive audio, delivering consumers a transformative viewing experience.” [Read on here...]
