Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We’ve got a couple things for you here at The Bits today...

First, our own Tim Salmons has turned in a pair of new Shout! Factory Blu-ray reviews, including The Slumber Party Massacre and the new Darkman: Collector’s Edition. Both are well worth a look. Enjoy the reviews!  [Read on here...]

Also today, Doogan has posted another new installment of his Gripe Soda column, featuring his weekly Doogan’s Queue rundown of what’s new in stores on Blu-ray and DVD this week. Be sure to check it out.

Also today, I wanted to bring your attention to BIG sale promotion that Twilight Time and Screen Archives Entertainment are having starting this Wednesday (3/19) and running for FIVE DAYS, in honor of Twilight’s third anniversary. Starting at 4 PM (Eastern) on Wednesday afternoon, 36 Twilight Blu-ray titles will be discounted by a whopping $10 each! So titles that normally sell for $34.95 will be just $24.95, and titles that are normally $29.95 will be just $19.95. Blu-ray titles will include Rapture, Picnic, Pal Joey, Demetrius & the Gladiators, Bite the Bullet, Desiree, The Wayward Blues, Cover Girl, High Time, Steel Magnolias, The Sound and the Fury, The Rains of Ranchipur, Bonjour Tristesse, Beloved Infidel, Lost Horizon, The Blue Lagoon, Experiment in Terror, Nicholas and Alexandra, Our Man Flint, In Like Flint, Pony Soldier, The Song of Bernadette, Philadelphia, The Only Game in Town, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, Sleepless in Seattle, The Disappearance, Sexy Beast, Alamo Bay, Mindwarp, The Other, Jane Eyre, Royal Flash, and Titus. There are also four DVD titles available, including The Kremlin Letter, Violent Saturday, Woman Obsessed, and My Cousin Rachel. Twilight will also have 150 copies of The Front signed by actress Andrea Marovicci. Again, this sale lasts just FIVE DAYS and starts on Wednesday at 4 PM (Eastern). So take advantage while you can. Here’s a link to the Screen Archives website.

Finally, Anchor Bay and The Weinstein Company have officially set Stephen Frears’ Philomena for Blu-ray and DVD release on 4/15.

That’s all for now. Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...
