Space: 1999 – S2 FINALLY coming to Blu-ray from Network in 2015, plus Bringers of Wonder!

All right, you fans have been waiting for this for a very long time, but I’m happy to report at long last that this is official folks. Space: 1999 – The Complete Second Series is now planned by Network Distributing for release on remastered Blu-ray and DVD in Q3 of 2015 (so about this time next year). Episodes will be HD remastered in the original 1.33:1 TV aspect ratio. There will be lots of special features. Further details will be available in the months ahead. Meanwhile, for fans that can’t wait that long, Network is taking a page from CBS and releasing the second series two-part episode The Bringers of Wonder as a Blu-ray special edition on 12/8 of this year. It will only be available via the networkonair.com website and is limited to just 1,999 copies. Preorders are on now. (Note that this is a Region B release, but we’re confirming whether it will be released here in the States and who the distributor is. Possibly Lionsgate. We’ll let you know.) Of those who purchase this Blu-ray, all will be entered in a special drawing to win one of three copies of The Complete Second Series when it’s finally released. [Read on here…]

Both Space: 1999 – The Bringers of Wonder and the eventual Space: 1999 – The Complete Second Series will include the two individual episodes of The Bringers of Wonder as well as the feature-length Destination Moonbase Alpha feature film created from those episodes. You’ve already seen the packaging, but I’ll include it again below along with some exclusive frame grabs showing the restored image quality…

Very exciting. Man, it’s nice to finally be able to report this news! You guys have no idea how long and hard I’ve been badgering Network about Season Two on Blu-ray. I’ve literally been on them for years to make sure they didn’t forget how much people wanted the second season of the show on Blu-ray. I’ve actually been having to hold my tongue on this announcement for a couple days, so great that at last you all know about it!

All right... finally today, here’s also a look at Disney and Marvel’s official Blu-ray trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which streets on 12/9 (we hope to have a review of it soon)…
