We’re closing out the week here at The Bits with a little bit of news and a bunch of “classic” Blu-ray reviews.

I’ve gone back and updated five Blu-ray reviews I did for the old Bits website and added them into the review database here at the new site. Longtime readers will probably have read them when we first posted them years ago, but they’ll be brand new for some of you that have only discovered The Bits recently. Included are my thoughts onTimur Bekmambetov’s Night Watch and Day Watch, Mel Gibson’s Braveheart: Sapphire Series, Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the original 2-disc special edition), and finally the sports classic Rudy, starring Sean Astin. All are great films and are well worth your time, so if you haven’t seen them yet, do check them out. Enjoy the reviews!  [Read on here…]

One quick note: I now have in my possession a review copy of Warner’s new Batman: The Complete Television Series Blu-ray box set. It streets next Tuesday and I’ll have my full review for you here at The Bits bright and early on Monday morning. So be sure to check back for that. In a word: Wow!

In announcement news today, Scream Factory has released new details on their forthcoming Blu-ray release of Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh, set to street on 1/6/15. The disc will include audio commentary with director Bill Condon, a pair of interview featurettes featuring Tony Todd and Veronica Cartwright (The Candyman Legacy and Down Memory Lane) and the film’s theatrical trailer.

Paramount has set Comedy Central’s Drunk History: Seasons 1 & 2 for DVD only release on 11/25.

Universal is releasing Mercy, Mockingbird, Not Safe for Work, and Stretch on DVD only on 11/25.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has revealed that they’re going to be releasing Fear Clinic on disc in early 2015. Meanwhile, the film debuts at the 13th Annual NYC Horror Film Festival on 11/13.

And for 80s music fans MDV Visual is releasing Devo: Hardcore Live! on Blu-ray on 2/10/15.

We’ll leave you with a little more new cover artwork…

The Boxtrolls (Blu-ray 3D Combo)    Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (Blu-ray Disc)    It Happened One Night (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)

Batman: The Complete Television Series (Blu-ray Disc)

All right, have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday with that Batman review – same Bat time, same Bat channel!
