Kin on BD/4K, plus Handmaid’s Tale: S2, The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, new reviews & Bud Elder on Burt Reynolds

Let’s start today with some new announcement news...

Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have just officially set Kin for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 11/20, with the Digital release expected on 11/6. The 4K Ultra HD version will include both Dolby Vision HDR and DTS:X object-based audio. The Blu-ray will also feature DTS:X.

Extras will include audio commentary with co-directors Jonathan and Josh Baker and screenwriter Daniel Casey, the Thicker Than Water: The Making of Kin 8-Part documentary, an Enhanced Visual FX Breakdown featurette, the Bag Man: Original Short (with optional audio commentary by Jonathan and Josh Baker), 10 deleted scenes, and the Learned Behavior: Special Features at Work hour-long round table discussion (with Jonathan and Josh Baker, Dan Trachtenberg, Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert, Laurent Bouzereau, and Kevin Smith). We’ve updated The 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.

Lionsgate has also set Viking Destiny for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 12/4.

Also today, GKids and Shout! Factory have set Masaaki Yuasa’s anime The Night is Short, Walk on Girl for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/29/19. Extras will include an interview with director Masaaki Yuasa, trailers, and TV spots.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of The Handmaid’s Tale: Season Two on 12/4. All 13 episodes will be included on 4 discs, along with pair of featurettes (Season Two: Off Book and Dressing Dystopia).

MPI is releasing Pat Boone and Family: Christmas & Thanksgiving Specials on DVD on 11/6.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Joseph Pevney’s Foxfire (1955) and Female on the Beach (1955) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/11.

And for UK readers, Eureka! is releasing an elaborate Blu-ray special edition of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz in the UK on 12 November. Among the extras will be a 100-page hardbound book.

Also here at The Bits today, we have a trio of new reviews for you, including Dennis’ look at The Carol Burnett Show: 50th Anniversary Special on DVD from Time Life, David’s take on Rapid Fire on Blu-ray from Twilight Time, and Tim’s thoughts on Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead on Blu-ray from Well Go USA.

And finally, our very own Bud Elder has just delivered a great new View from the Cheap Seats tribute to the late Burt Reynolds, with interesting stories about Bud from those who knew him.
