BBC Home Entertainment has set Silent Witness: Season One and Silent Witness: Season Seventeen for DVD release on 10/21.
Timeless Media is releasing a number of deep catalog and TV titles on DVD next month, including NBC Western TV Legends (featuring the first episodes of The Virginian, Wagon Train, Laredo, and Laramie) and Life and Times of Grizzly Adams: Once Upon a Starry Night on 10/7, A Haunting: The Television Series and The Hercules Collection (includes 1960s films The Trojan Horse, The Loves of Hercules, Medusa Against the Son of Hercules, The Conquest of Mycenae, The Triumph of Hercules, and Hercules Against the Sons of the Sun) on 10/14, The Red Skelton Show: The Early Years 1951-1955, the Film Noir Collection (includes DOA, Beat the Devil, Impact, The Stranger, Scarlet Street, Shock, Port of New York, They Made Me a Criminal, Whirlpool, and Quicksand), and the John Wayne Collection (TBA), and The Big Valley: The Final Season on 10/28.
Warner (I believe) has set the Paramount catalog title War & Peace (the 1956 King Vidor film starring Henry Fonda and Audrey Hepburn) for BD release on 1/20/15.
And Film Movement has set The Female Gaze for DVD release on 10/7.
Here’s something interesting: 20th Century Fox appears to have licensed the classic Irwin Allen TV series Time Tunnel for Blu-ray release on 4/13/15… at least in the UK. Will it come out here in the States? Given Fox’s waning interest in TV BDs lately, I doubt it. But we can always hope. In the meantime, Revelation Films is handling the UK release.
Finally today, here’s something Dr. Jahnke spotted for you guys: The Hollywood Reporter ran a story yesterday concerning Terry Gilliam. The director has been struggling of late with the death of his friend Robin Williams, but recently had to view and approve the new transfer of his 1991 film The Fisher King, which Criterion (we’re glad to learn) is preparing for remastered Blu-ray and DVD release. The film stars Williams and Jeff Bridges, and Gilliam reports in the story that he now sees the film in a new light. It’s a good read, so do check it out.
