Extras on the 4K and Blu-ray SKUs will include 3 deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, and 4 behind-the-scenes featurettes (including Dude vs. Guy, Creating Molotovgirl, It’s Taika’s World, and Welcome to Free City). You can see the cover artwork above-left and also below.
On a semi-related note, Disney has made Marvel’s Black Widow available in Digital 4K today. The physical Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release is confirmed for 9/14.
And while we’re talking Digital, Paramount has now updated the HD/SDR versions of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (the director’s cut, not yet the theatrical cut), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and Star Trek: First Contact on iTunes, Apple TV, and Vudu to feature the image sourced from the new 4K scan and remaster. The 4K/HDR versions of at least the first four of those film should become available Digitally closer to the street date for the physical 4K Ultra HD box set on 9/7.
One more 4K note: Studio Canal is releasing Joe Dante’s The Howling on 10/25 in the UK (and elsewhere in Europe) in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary. You can pre-order the title here (and by clicking on the image below) on Amazon.co.uk, here from Zavvi UK, and here from Zavvi US and Canada...
And finally today, GKids has already sold out of their Neon Genesis Evangelion: Ultimate Edition Blu-ray release, but they’ve just kicked off a new countdown on their website (with about 6 days to go) to additional “forthcoming editions” of the series that one presumes will be less ultimate but hopefully vastly more affordable. Click here for the countdown and for more information as it becomes available.
Here’s a look at the cover artwork for Free Guy on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, plus the 3-disc Dune 4K Steelbook from Arrow (click to pre-order them on Amazon if links are available)...
That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
