Meanwhile today, this comes from the SkyNet’s Army fan site (so it’s not official, but it’s also not surprising): StudioCanal is reportedly planning the worldwide Blu-ray 3D release of Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D in time for the holidays this year. (Thanks to Bits reader Bill M. for the link.) You can read a little more here. I believe StudioCanal is still distributed by Lionsgate here in the States, so it will be interesting to see if there’s a 4K Ultra HD release to go with it. And to add a little bit of our own Rumor Mill-worthy speculation, that might also prove a smart time for 20th Century Fox to finally release True Lies and The Abyss on Blu-ray and 4K. We’ll have to wait and see.
In actual announcement news today, Lionsgate has officially set the 4K Ultra HD release of The Lincoln Lawyer for 8/15, with Dolby Atmos audio. SRP is just $22.99 and the previous Blu-ray edition will be included with all its extras.
Lionsgate has also announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of Free Fire on 7/18, along with Tommy’s Honour on DVD only that same day.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced Riverdale: The Complete First Season for DVD only on 8/15.
Also, Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders on the 4K Ultra HD release of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus as well as his new Alien: Covenant in Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Here’s the cover art links...
Finally, we’d like to take a moment to send our support out to director Zack Snyder, who has just announced that he’s having to step back from working on Justice League to be with his family in the wake of the death of his daughter. Speaking personally, I’ve only met Zack twice and both times briefly, but he’s one of the nicest people I’ve encountered in this industry. I can’t imagine what he and his family must be going through right now. Much love to you and yours, Zack, from all of us here at The Bits.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned...
