All right, just some quick odds and ends in today’s post while I’m off to work on reviews...

Tim has posted his thoughts on Alexander Singer’s Psyche 59 (1964) from Powerhouse Films and Indicator as well as David Blyth’s Death Warmed Up (1984) from Severin Films. Both are available on Blu-ray, so do give them a look if you’re interested.

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. has just officially set DC Universe animated film Batman: Hush for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/13, with the Digital release expected on 7/20. Extras will include the DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock animated short, the Batman: Love in Time of War featurette, audio commentary (with executive producer James Tucker, director Justin Copeland, and screenwriter Ernie Altbacker), a sneak peek at the next DC Universe Movie, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, and two From the DC Vault episodes of The Batman/Superman Hour (including The Underworld Underground Caper and Partners in Peril). Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox has announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of the faith-based film Breakthrough on 7/16.

Ang Lee’s Hulk (2003) is officially coming to 4K Ultra HD from Universal on 7/9 and you can now pre-order it on Amazon here and by clicking on the cover artwork below.

Also now official and available for Amazon pre-order in 4K Ultra HD from Universal on 7/9 is Kevin Reynolds’ Waterworld (1995). It appears that the disc will include the theatrical cut in 4K with a BD and Digital copy of the Extended Edition. Again, you can order that here and by clicking on the cover artwork below. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with all these titles accordingly.

And we certainly must take a moment today to acknowledge the passing this week of a pair of legends in the Hollywood community... Doris Day and Tim Conway.

Day was an extraordinary acting and singing talent, famous for many great film appearances in comedies, musicals, dramas, even Hitchcock thrillers. Among them are Romance on the High Seas, With Six you Get Eggroll, Calamity Jane, The Pajama Game, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Love Me or Leave Me, Pillow Talk, and even her own TV show. He was also a staunch animal rights activist. Doris Day was 97 and you can read more here via The New York Times.

Conway was an equally remarkable talent, known especially for his many great comic roles on TV and in film. Baby Boomers will probably know him best for his appearances in McHale’s Navy, those a little younger more as a writer and regular supporting player on The Carol Burnett Show (alongside Burnett, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, and Lyle Waggoner). Disney brought him to the attention a whole new generation with the comedies The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975) and The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979), alongside the great Don Knotts. He also starred as Dorf in his own series of shorts. Conway was 85 and you can read more about him here at The NY Times as well.

RIP Doris Day & Tim Conway

Both will be dearly missed.

Now then... we’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for some of the titles we’ve mentioned above and more (including the rest of the new Criterion August titles, some of which we included in yesterday’s post – Amazon.com pre-order links for all are now available)...
