The big release news today is that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially set Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/10, just two days after the broadcast of the final episode on Fox. All 13 episodes will be included in 1080p and 5.1 DTS-HD MA on Blu-ray (anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 on DVD), along with some very cool extras. Among them you’ll find a Blu-ray-exclusive interactive Cosmic Calendar (timeline of the history of the Universe), the 5-part Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey – The Voyage Continues documentary, 2 additional featurettes (Celebrating Carl Sagan: A Selection from the Library of Congress Dedication and Cosmos at Comic-Con 2013), and finally audio commentary on Episode One: Standing Up in the Milky Way. Meanwhile, Warner Home Video has set Winter’s Tale for Blu-ray Combo, DVD and digital release on 6/24 (SRP $35.99 and $28.98 for the discs). Extras on both will include the Winter’s Tale: A Timeless Love featurette. The Blu-ray will exclusively add Characters of Good & Evil and additional scenes.
Magnolia Home Entertainment has set Stephen Chow’s Journey to the West for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/27 (SRP $29.98). Extras will include 6 featurettes (Stunts & Special Effects, Cast & Characters, Director Stephen Chow, The Laughs, Production Design, and Choreography) and the theatrical trailer.
Film Movement will release The Jewish Cardinal on DVD on 5/20.
Lionsgate and The History Channel will release The Universe: Season 7 – Ancient Mysteries on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/27.
MHz Home Entertainment has announced the 5/27 release of the Scandinavian TV series titles Wallender: Season 3 and The Bridge (Bron/Broen) on DVD.
Cinedigm will release the 4-hour Hitler and the Nazis documentary on DVD on 5/27.
