Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Coyote vs. Acme, Shout’s Miami Vice 4K, Imprint’s Directed By... Steven Soderbergh & more!

We’ve got a few new disc reviews to start the new week off today, including…

Tim’s thoughts on Charles Lamont’s Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Stephen’s look at James Ivory’s Maurice (1987) in 4K Ultra HD from the Cohen Film Collection and Kino Lorber.

Todd’s take on the 6-film After Dark: Neo-Noir Cinema – Collection Four (1990-97) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films (which includes Wild at Heart, Unlawful Entry, The Getaway, Mulholland Falls, Freeway, and City of Industry).

And Stuart’s reviews of Bertrand Blier’s Buffet froid (1979) on Blu-ray from Indicator and Jean Aurel’s Manon 70 (1968) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

Now then… the big release news is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Marvel have just officially set Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD Steelbook format on 12/15, with the Digital release expected next week on 10/6! The 4K Steelbook will be available in wide release and Limited Collector’s Edition versions, with the latter including a custom comic book, relic cards, and more. Look for the 4K to include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.

Extras on all versions will include 10 featurettes (Tom Holland: Evolving Spider, Brand New Direction, Secret Sources and Hidden Spider Eggs, Possession!, Peter and The Punisher, Live-Action Comics, Friends and Foes, Webs, Wires and Runaway Tanks, Scorpions, Ninjas, and the Spider-Suit, and Lost Memories from Set: Camera Roll), plus Outtakes: Goofs, Gaffes and Gags. You can see the cover art for the wide release 4K above left.

Also today, we finally have a street date for Ketchup Entertainment’s Coyote vs. Acme (2026) on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K Steelbook—look for it to street on 12/1.

And the other big piece of release news today is that Shout! Studios has just revealed a nice slate of Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD titles for release in December, including

  • Miami Vice (2006) (4K + Blu-ray Collector’s Edition) – 12/15
  • The ‘Burbs (1989) (4K Steelbook + Blu-ray) – 12/15
  • The Chow Yun-fat Collection: Vol. 2 (4K + Blu-ray) – 12/15 – includes Triads: The Inside Story (1989), All About Ah-Long (1989), The Fun, The Luck & The Tycoon (1990), Now You See It, Now You Don’t (1992), Treasure Hunt (1994), and Peace Hotel (1995)
  • Midway (1976) (4K Steelbook + Blu-ray) – 12/15
  • The Wolfman (2010) (4K Steelbook + Blu-ray) – 12/15

Note that Miami Vice (2006) is a 5-disc set that includes 133-minute The Director’s Final Cut (2026) and the 132-minute Theatrical Cut in both 4K and Blu-ray, plus a Blu-ray bonus disc that includes the 139-minute Original Alternate Cut plus special features.

Also, our friends at Imprint Films have just announced a new Directed By... Steven Soderbergh (1992-2021) Hardbox 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release that includes Kafka (1991) and Mr. Kneff (2021) in 4K, as well as King of the Hill (1993) and The Underneath (1995) on Blu-ray.
