All right, while we wait for an official announcement of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray and DVD, let’s run down a little other new release news...

First, on the 4K UHD front, Amazon has just listed 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool for pre-order. No street date is yet listed, but presumably it will be day and date with regular Blu-ray and DVD.

Fox has also set A Royal Night Out for DVD release on 5/3, with the digital HD release due on 4/19.  [Read on here…]

Warner Home Video has set Roots: The Complete Original Series for Blu-ray release for the first time on 6/7, featuring all 8 parts of the restored miniseries in 1080p, with 2 all new featurettes (Roots: The American Story Continues and The Cast Looks Back), plus legacy featurettes (Crossing Over: How Roots Captivated an Entire Nation, Connecting With the Past, The Struggle to Make Roots, LeVar Burton: Original Screen Test, Alex Haley Interview by David Frost, and Roots: One Year Later).

Warner has also just set LEGO Scooby Doo: Haunted Hollywood for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/10.

And the Warner Archive has just added Young Maverick: The Complete Series to their MOD/DVD-R offerings, along with Family Matters: The Complete Fifth Season and the Golden Harvest titles A Terra-Cotta Warrior, He’s a Woman, She’s a Man, and The Blade. Pre-orders are now open there for Dr. Kildare: The Complete Fifth Season, an RKO Varieties Triple Feature (featuring Make Mine Laughs, Variety Time, and Footlight Varieties), The Woman in White (1948), and Lizzie (1957).

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has set Backtrack for Blu-ray and DVD on 4/26, followed by Alpha and Omega: Dino Digs on DVD on 5/10.

Scream Factory has confirmed that the 4/26 Blu-ray release of the Death Becomes Her: Collector’s Edition will include the all-new The Making of Death Becomes Her featurette (featuring interviews with director Robert Zemeckis,  writer David Koepp, director of photography Dean Cundey, production designer Rick Carter, and special effects artists Lance Anderson and David Anderson), and a vintage Behind-the-Scenes featurette.

Film Movement released Ignorance of Blood and The Entity on digital only on 3/1.

Arrow Video in the UK is releasing Richard Linklater’s Waking Life on Blu-ray and DVD there on 3/14.

Cinema Epoch has listed Private Lessons for Blu-ray release on Amazon on 5/24.

Finally, Anchor Bay has announced that they’ve acquired the distribution rights to Michael Moore’s latest documentary Where to Invade Next and will release it on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital later this year.

Here’s a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above, as well as the recently announced Fox UHD titles…

Deadpool (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)    Roots: The Complete Original Series (Blu-ray Disc)    Backtrack (Blu-ray Disc)

The Revenant (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)    The Peanuts Movie (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray)    Death Becomes Her: Collector's Edition (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned…
