All right, let’s start the week with some more release news…

Kino Lorber has just announced the 3/20 Blu-ray and DVD release of No Orchids for Miss Blandish (1948) as part of its Studio Classics line. Kino is also releasing a double feature Blu-ray of Mike Binder films on 2/27, including Crossing the Bridge and Indian Summer. The company will also release James Cruze’s Covered Wagon (1923) on Blu-ray on 2/20. This is widely considered to be the first Western epic. And on 3/13, look for them to release Revenge of the Cheerleaders (1976) on DVD only for Code Red.

MVD has set The Return of the Swamp Thing for release on Blu-ray on 5/8. The set will include both Blu-ray and DVD in one package. [Read on here…]

All right, we’ve been very busy here at The Bits working on new reviews and other content, and all in the midst of some crazy weather in SoCal – we have high winds and wildfires all around. If you live in the area, please stay safe.

First, our own Michael Coate has just turned in a new retrospective interview celebrating the 25th anniversary of Bram Stoker’s Dracula from director Francis Ford Coppola, which we recently reviewed in 4K Ultra HD. Michael has also posted a 55th anniversary retrospective looking back at the James Bond film that started it all, Dr. No. You’ll find both of those in History, Legacy & Showmanship right now and we hope you enjoy them. We’ve got some more Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release news for you today...

To start… 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has just officially announced Kingsman: The Golden Circle for release on all three disc formats on 12/12, confirming information we’ve posted based on retail sources. Extras on both Blu-ray versions will include the 9-part Kingsman: Inside the Golden Circle documentary (which includes Distilling the Story: Kingsman Returns, Trafficker, Tailor, Southerner, Spy, Poppy’s Special Guest: Elton John, Nefarious Lairs & High-Falutin’ Headquarters, Suited and Booted, Weapons of Choice, Brothers in Arms, Doomsday Protocol: Visual Effects, and End Game), the Black Cab Chaos: Anatomy of a Killer Chase featurette, and the Kingsman Archives gallery of concept art and still photos. Note that the 4K disc will also include Dolby Atmos audio. That same day, you’ll also be able to get the Kingsman: 2-Movie Collection on both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD, which will package The Golden Circle with Kingman: The Secret Service. Happy Halloween, everyone! Today is just a quick update, as there’s not a lot of news to report and we know many of you have plans for the evening.

However, we’ve got a pair of new Blu-ray reviews for you to enjoy today, including Tim’s look at Scream Factory’s Dawn of the Dead (2004) and also Red Christmas from Artsploitation Films. Enjoy!

In announcement news today, Kino Lorber has revealed that they’re working on new Blu-ray and DVD editions of Dan Curtis’ Trilogy of Terror (1975) for release in 2018. The company has also set Cadillac Man (1991) for Blu-ray release on 1/2/18. [Read on here…]

Morning, folks! Hope you all had a great weekend. We’ve been very busy here working on new reviews for you.

Along those lines, here’s my thoughts on Warner’s Peanuts Holiday Collection in 4K Ultra HD, Lionsgate’s American Gods: Season One on Blu-ray, PBS’ The Farthest: Voyager in Space and The Vietnam War: A Film by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick on Blu-ray, GKids’ new Blu-ray editions of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s animated Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away, and Tim’s look at Arrow’s new A Fish Called Wanda: Special Edition and Robert Englund’s 976-EVIL from Sony, both on Blu-ray. Whew!

Rest assured, we’ve got more new reviews coming this week, including a bunch more 4K titles, Baby Driver and Spiderman: Homecoming included. So be sure to watch for those. [Read on here…]

Scream for a Week Returns! – October 10, 2017

After a bit of an absence from the site, my annual Scream for a Week column makes its return with a batch of new great titles!

It’s been a few months since I’ve been able to do one of these, due mostly to some site work preventing me from doing so. Instead of mixing it up with both old and new content like before, I’ll be covering several recent releases instead.

Scream Factory has been putting out so much great content lately that it’s been a bit difficult to keep up with. Regardless, here’s a grouping of their more recent titles that we haven’t covered here at The Bits previously, with more to come in the future. [Read on here…]

We’ve got lots more announcement news for you today…

Lionsgate has just set The Hitman’s Bodyguard for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 11/21. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List accordingly. The studio has also set Marc Webb’s The Only Living Boy in New York for Digital HD release on 10/20. There’s no word yet of a physical release. Lionsgate will also release The Glass Castle on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/7, with the Digital HD release set for 10/24.

Warner Bros Home Entertainment is releasing Justice League Action: Season 1, Part 1 and Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas on DVD on 10/10. [Read on here…]

We’ve got some great new announcements for you today. First up though, Tim has turned in a review of Dan O’Bannon’s The Resurrected on Blu-ray from our friends over at Scream Factory. It’s a fun disc, so do give it a look if you’re of a mind to. Now then...

In announcement news today, Monsieur David Lynch has, his very own bad self, announced the forthcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of Twin Peaks: The Third Season via Twitter today. Look for it on 12/5 from CBS Home Entertainment and Showtime. We expect that they’ll have cooked up some nice extras to go with that tasty slice pie, so watch for further details in the weeks ahead. You can see the cover artwork below. We’ll add the Amazon link as soon as it goes live.

Also on the TV front today, are there any Game of Thrones fans in the house? HBO has just officially set Game of Thrones: The Complete Seventh Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/12, with the Digital HD version due on 9/25. [Read on here…]
