We’re back as promised this morning with another big announcement news round-up (and definitely be sure to check out our packed news update from yesterday evening as well, if you missed it)...

We’ll start with Barbie news (and there’s a phrase I officially never imagined I’d say): Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has just set Greta Gerwig’s pink-hued box office bonanza for “Premium Digital” release on 9/12 (SRP $29.99). Extras will include 6 behind-the-scenes featurettes (Welcome to Barbie Land, Becoming Barbie, Playing Dress-Up, Musical Make Believe, All-Star Barbie Part, and It’s a Weird World). The physical media release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD will be announced at a later date (but our sources are still telling us to expect it on 10/3).

Also today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has officially announced that Billy Wilder’s Stalag 17 (1953) is coming on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 11/21! Also coming that day on Blu-ray only is Clive Donner’s Babes in Toyland (1986), featuring both 1.33:1 and 1.78:1 aspect ratio versions. And coming on 11/14 on Blu-ray only will be Monte Markham’s Neon City (1991).

Stalag 17 will include a new 4K scan of the original camera negative with Dolby Vision HDR. The Blu-ray will also be mastered from the new 4K scan. Each disc will include new audio commentary with film historians Steve Mitchell and Steven Jay Rubin, as well as a second commentary with film historian Joseph McBride. You’ll also get the legacy commentary with Richard Erdman, Gil Stratton, and Donald Bevan, as well as 2 featurettes (Stalag 17: From Reality to the Screen and The Real Heroes of Stalag XVII B).

In terms of titles that are coming soon from KLSC, a 4K Ultra HD release of Clint Eastwood’s Play Misty for Me (1971) is in the offing. And the company has revealed that Kino Cult and Something Weird are working together on a Two Cult Classics by Betty Page Blu-ray double feature of Varietease (1954) and Teaserama (1955). Look for that to street sometime in 2024. [Read on here...]

In other news, Blue Underground has revealed that their forthcoming 4K Ultra HD release of Bob Clark’s Deathdream (1974)—aka Dead of Night—has been pushed back into 2024. The company had hoped to release it by Halloween of this year, but technical issues with the 4K master have made them decide to start the remastering work from scratch. Adjust your plans accordingly.

Mubi will be releasing their first 4K Ultra HD title on 10/14 with Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave (2022). A Blu-ray version will also street that same day.

It seems that Paramount’s new Paramount Scares: Volume 1 4K Ultra HD box set will officially street on 10/24 (SRP $111.99) and it’s up for pre-order on Amazon now. You’ll find the cover artwork with the Amazon link below. We expect the studio to announce more about the release soon.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is releasing another pair of Universal Essentials Collection 4K + BD editions on 10/31, including Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List (1993) and John Landis’ Animal House (1978). As with previous editions in this line, the titles will include photo/art cards, a collectible booklet, a film cell replica, an individually-numbered certificate of authenticity, and deluxe packaging.

According to Target, Sony’s long out-of-print 4K Ultra HD Steelbook edition of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is supposedly coming back into stock via online retailers on 9/26. But it’s not up yet for pre-order on Amazon, Target’s pre-orders are sold out already, and Best Buy doesn’t show a new version at all. We’ll ask the studio about this one and see if we can figure out what’s happening with it, because we know a lot of you would love to get your hands on a copy.

Finally, we may have mentioned this before, but the Gerry Anderson Store now has all-region Blu-ray copies of Roberta Leigh’s Space Patrol: The Complete Series (1962) in stock (SRP $55) via this link. The 4-disc set includes all 39 episodes remastered from original film elements in HD. This was one of the first shows to utilize Anderson’s trademark Supermarionation technique. You can see a teaser for the release here...

All right, we’ll leave you with a look at some of the cover artwork mentioned above, again with Amazon pre-order links if available...
