All right, today’s post is going to be a quick one and for a good reason: Today, my wife and I celebrate our 30th anniversary. But know that I have a number new of Blu-ray and 4K reviews cooking that I’ll start posting this week.

We also have a review from Dennis today of Guy Hamilton’s 1980 film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. As some of you may know, Guy Hamilton was also the director of the Bond film Goldfinger. You can find Dennis’ thoughts here.

Now then, we have a couple of good pieces of announcement news today...

Lionsgate has set Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass for release on 4K Ultra HD in Steelbook on 11/3. This is the same disc released on the format earlier, just in the new packaging. Extras include 2 featurettes (A New Kind of Superhero: The Making of Kick-Ass and It’s On! The Comic Book Origin of Kick-Ass), audio commentary by director Matthew Vaughn, a Marketing Archive, and (on the Blu-ray only) The Art of Kick-Ass Gallery. Look for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio on the UHD. SRP is just $24.99. [Read on here...]

Not done yet... Lionsgate has also set Rambo: The Complete Steelbook Collection for release on 4K Ultra HD on 10/27. You’ll get all 5 films (First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, Rambo, and Rambo: Last Blood) in Steelbook packaging for $119.99. All of these films have been released individually on the format already, and include a mix of HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR, as well as DTS-HD MA and Dolby Atmos audio. Here’s what that looks like...

Rambo: The Complete Steelbook Collection (4K Ultra HD)

Meanwhile, Shout Factory TV is going to host a Star Trek Day Marathon on 9/8, set to include all of the documentaries to which it has distribution rights. Those include The Captains, The Captains Close Up five-episode miniseries, Chaos on the Bridge: The Untold Story Behind Trek’s Next Generation, William Shatner’s Get a Life!, What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Backlot: San Diego Comic-Con 2019: What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Panel. The marathon will begin at 9 AM Pacific.

Don’t forget that Warner will release Supergirl: The Complete Fifth Season on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/8, followed by DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Fifth Season on both formats on 9/22.

Kino’s Buck Rogers in the 25th Century feature film will be released by itself on Blu-ray on 11/24 (SRP $24.95). This is in addition to the company’s Buck Rogers in the 25th Century: The Complete Series Blu-ray package which will include the film as well both seasons of the classic 1970s NBC TV series.

And finally, here’s a nice surprise: Paramount is going to be releasing Mission: Impossible – The Complete Original TV Series on Blu-ray Disc on 11/17. The 46 disc set will carry an SRP of $144.99. It’s available for pre-order now and you can see the cover artwork below.

Here’s a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above (with Amazon pre-order links if available)...
