All right, we’re starting things off today with some more new 4K Ultra HD reviews...

First, I’ve given DreamWorks and Universal’s new Shrek: 10th Anniversary Edition a look on the format. It’s a very modest upgrade, but it might be worth a look for fans. The disc is available now.

Also on the CG-animated front, I’ve checked out Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon, which just arrived in stores on Tuesday.

And finally, I’ve posted my thoughts this morning on director J.J. Abrams’ 2011 early-period Spielberg homage, Super 8, which is coming to 4K Ultra HD from Paramount on 5/25.

More Blu-ray and 4K reviews are in the works, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for them. [Read on here...]

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two for release on Blu-ray on 8/10, with the Digital release expected on 7/27. The company also reports that both Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One and Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two will be available next year packaged together in 4K Ultra HD. Extras on the Blu-ray will include DC Showcase: Blue Beetle, A Sneak Peek at the next DC Animated Movie: Injustice, 2 DC Universe Movie Flashbacks (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 and Batman: Hush), and two episodes from The DC Vault (Batman: The Animated Series – Two-Face, Parts 1 and 2).

While we’re talking Warner Bros., coming in June to Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection are There Was a Crooked Man (1970) on 6/8, Guns for San Sebastian (1968) and Ziegfeld Follies (1945) on 6/15, Chain Lightning (1950) and the Elvis film It Happened at the World’s Fair (1963) on 6/22, and Madame Curie (1943) on 6/29. You can see the cover art and pre-order each of them from Amazon below.

Also, back on the topic of 4K, we’ve had a major update from our industry and retail sources on some big 4K UHD catalog titles that are forthcoming. Look for Rian Johnson’s Looper from Sony on 7/13. David Lynch’s Dune (1984) is set to arrive sometime in Q3 of this year from Arrow Video. John Carpenter’s The Thing is on its way to 4K Ultra HD from Universal in time for Halloween. And we’re now hearing that both Amadeus and The Lost Boys may be on tap from Warner Bros. for next year. As always, all of this information is to be considered unofficial and subject to change until the studios in question make their actual announcements. Our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits has been updated accordingly.
