Speaking of Warner Bros, it’s not been announced yet but Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Steven Soderberg’s Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) in 4K Ultra HD Steelbook. The street date is listed as 4/30. Per the packaging, each of these will also include 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio and HDR10 high dynamic range. It does not appear that there will be any new features, but the legacy extras will carry over. You can see the cover artwork above left and also below.
Warner has, however, just officially announced David Ayer’s The Beekeeper for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 4/23. The studio’s press release makes no indication of special features or A/V details, but it does list Dolby Atmos audio. HDR is likely HDR10 only.
Meanwhile, Universal has set Bryce McGuire’s horror film Night Swim (2024) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 4/9 from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. The Digital version will be available on 3/12. Extras will include 4 featurettes and audio commentary by the director.
Radiance has just announced a great June Blu-ray slate, including Kinji Fukasaku’s Sympathy for the Underdog for release in the UK, US and Canada on 6/24-25. Vittorio De Seta’s Bandits of Orgosolo is also coming in the UK and US on 6/24-25, and the UK release will also include De Seta’s short film program The Lost World. And in the UK only on 6/24, look for The Agitator: Three Provocations from the Wild World of Jean-Pierre Mocky box set, which will include Litan (1982), Kill the Referee (1984), and Agent Trouble (1987).
Eureka has just set the first three of Teruo Ishii’s Prison Walls: Abashiri Prison films for first-ever Blu-ray release in the US on 5/28. These Japanese yakuza classics (essentially Abashiri Prison I, II, and III) were all released theatrically by Toei in 1965.
And Via Vision has revealed that they’re releasing a 3-disc Blu-ray edition of David Lynch’s Dune (1984) on 4/24, featuring a lenticular hardcase and art cards. More importantly, the package will also include both the theatrical and extended TV cuts of the film, along with the extended version of our friend Daniel Griffith’s excellent The Sleeper Must Awaken: Making Dune documentary, available for the first time on Region A Blu-ray. You can pre-order the title here on their website. It will eventually be available for pre-order on Amazon too (via this link) with a street date of 5/3.
Also today, we have a look for you at that Star Trek III: 40th Anniversary 4K Steelbook Edition from Paramount that we mentioned the other day was coming on 5/28. And while it’s not been officially announced yet, we’ve learned that this edition will include film poster and theatrical promo book reproductions (along with the same discs released last year). You can pre-order the version without swag from Amazon by clicking on the image below...
Finally, we wanted to update you on a Classic Flix title that was originally announced back in December: Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe (1941) is now being released on Blu-ray and DVD only. It had previously been announced for 4K UHD as well, but pre-orders apparently did not meet expectations. Look for the title to street on 4/30.
