We’ve got a couple odds and ends for you today...

First, the big news... Shout! Factory has just reached a multi-year distribution agreement with the Portland-based Laika animation studio. The deal gives Shout! the U.S. packaged media distribution rights to the studio’s first four films: Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), The Boxtrolls (2014), ParaNorman (2012), and Coraline (2009). According to the report on The Hollywood Reporter, new bonus content is already in development for these films. Not only are new Blu-rays obviously in the offing, we can’t help thinking how great these titles would look again on Blu-ray 3D and for the first time on 4K Ultra HD as well.

Also today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just announced Supernatural: The Fifteenth and Final Season and Supernatural: The Complete Series for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/25. The Fifteenth Season set includes 2 new featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more (SRP $49.99 for Blu-ray and $44.98 for DVD). The Complete Series set includes all 327 episodes and all the previous bonus content, plus a 68-page book (SRP $359.99 for Blu-ray and $329.99 for DVD). [Read on here...]

Supernatural: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

Here’s a nice surprise on the catalog 4K Ultra HD front: Our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have revealed that they’re working on a physical 4K release of all three cuts of Orson Welles’ film noir classic Touch of Evil (1958)! We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.

KL Studio Classics has also revealed that they’re working on a new restoration of Ferdinando Baldi’s Treasure of the Four Crowns (1983) for release on Blu-ray 3D in conjunction with the 3-D Film Archive.

Also today, Lionsgate has set The Toll for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/30.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has set One More Round staring Mads Mikkelsen for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/30.

Film Movement Classics has set Frank Launder’s The Belles of St. Trinians (1954) for Blu-ray release on 2/23.

ShineHouse will release WWII: The Long Road Home on Digital, VOD, and DVD on 3/2.

Severin Films has set Augusto Caminito’s Nosferatu in Venice, featuring Klaus Kinski, for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/30.

And Shout! Studios will release Svyatoslav Podgaevsky’s supernatural thriller The Widow on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital, and VOD on 3/30 as well.

In other news from around the Internet this week, our old friend T.K. Arnold has written a great piece over at Media Play News featuring home entertainment leaders offering their perspective on the state of the industry in 2020, along with a look ahead at what’s to come in 2021. It’s called 2021: What Now? and it’s well worth a read. It adds nice perspective to my own Welcome to the New World piece here on The Bits from back on 2/21.

And here at the site today, it’s come to our attention that some of you are having difficulty with our RSS feed on The Bits (for the daily My Two Cents news column you’re reading now). A number of readers have been using this link: https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/feed. That wasn’t working, but we’ve established a redirect to the correct URL for the feed, which is: https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents?format=feed. So now it should be working for everyone.

All right, here’s a look at the cover artwork a trio of upcoming titles we’ve mentioned in recent weeks, with Amazon.com pre-order links (juct click on the covers)...

GATTACA (4K Ultra HD) Damn Yankees (Blu-ray Disc) Thundarr the Barbarian: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

And that’s all for today. Stay tuned!
