We’ve got lots more announcement news for you today…

Lionsgate has just set The Hitman’s Bodyguard for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 11/21. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List accordingly. The studio has also set Marc Webb’s The Only Living Boy in New York for Digital HD release on 10/20. There’s no word yet of a physical release. Lionsgate will also release The Glass Castle on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/7, with the Digital HD release set for 10/24.

Warner Bros Home Entertainment is releasing Justice League Action: Season 1, Part 1 and Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas on DVD on 10/10. [Read on here…]

All right, it’s been a busy week here at The Digital Bits...

Just in the last 24 hours, we’ve posted three new disc reviews, including Tim’s thoughts on René Laloux’s classic animated film Fantastic Planet on Blu-ray from The Criterion Collection, as well as my two cents on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus in 4K Ultra HD from 20th Century Fox and also Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island in 4K Ultra HD from Warner Bros. All of them are worth a look, so we hope you enjoy the reviews.

Now then, we have some new announcement news to run down for you today...

First up today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind for release on 4K Ultra HD (in both regular and Limited Edition versions) and Blu-ray formats on 9/19, featuring a new 4K restoration of all three versions of the film (included on BOTH the Blu-ray and 4K editions). Both editions will also include a pair of new featurettes: Three Kinds of Close Encounters, featuring Spielberg with directors J.J. Abrams and Denis Villeneuve, and Steven’s Home Movies & Outtakes. Also included will be legacy features, among them The Making of Close Encounters of the Third Kind documentary, the Steven Spielberg: 30 Years of Close Encounters featurette, deleted scenes, the 1977 featurette Watch the Skies, Storyboard to Scene Comparisons, an extensive photo gallery, “A View From Above”, and theatrical trailers. We’ve got just a little bit more good announcement news for you guys to close out the shortened holiday week today...

First, Kino Lorber has announced that it plans to release Gary Marshall’s Young Doctors in Love (1982) on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/10. The company has also revealed that Sidney J. Furie’s The Taking of Beverly Hills (1991) and James Glickenhaus’ The Soldier (1982) are coming soon to both formats.

A reminder: Pre-orders for Twilight Time’s July titles are now live on Twilight Time Movies and Screen Archives Entertainment, including Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask), The Crimson Kimono, State Fair, and Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn.
