Warner Home Video and Lucasfilm have today announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars – The Complete Season Five on 10/15 (SRP $59.97 and $49.98), including all 20 episodes (two presented as extended director’s cuts) and three hours worth of extras (cast and crew interviews, deleted and alternate scenes and more).  Also coming that day is a Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Seasons 1-5 Collector’s Edition box set on Blu-ray and DVD (SRP $149.99 and $119.98) containing all 108 episodes of the series, plus an exclusive The Art of The Clone Wars book, filled with never-before-seen concept art.  The question is, what’s happening with all the content created for Season Six, which was cancelled in the wake of the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm?  It doesn’t appear that it’s going to be included here.  Perhaps they’ll turn it into a mini-movie?  Who knows?  Anyway, more here.  And here’s the trailer…

Meanwhile, Sony has set This Is the End… for Blu-ray/DVD Combo release on 10/1 (SRP $30.99).  Extras will include audio commentary with directors Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, 7 This Is The Marketing featurettes (including Directing Your Friends, Marketing Outtakes, Aziz Haunts Craig, James and Danny Confessional, Jonah Confessional, Seth and Jay Confessional and The Cast) and the film’s redband Sizzle trailer.

And here’s something amusing… Syfy is brining Sharknado to digital theater screenings around the country on 8/2.  I know Syfy looks at the film’s ratings success as a feather in their cap, but I watched about five minutes of the thing.  Ugh.  Anyway, the film is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 9/3.

Finally today, we’ve got a gallery of photos from last week’s Comic-Con International 2013 convention in San Diego – took a while to get them all formatted and sort out the good from the bad, but here you go.  Enjoy!

Here’s a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork for Warner and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars – The Complete Season Five, as well as Universal’s Bates Motel: Season One (due 9/17) and Grimm: Season Two (9/17)…

Finally, today appears to have been the official last day of shooting on The Hobbit trilogy down in New Zealand.  As it happens, director Peter Jackson essentially live-blogged the whole thing on his Facebook page, starting and ending the day with his cat Mr. Smudge.  My favorite thing about all this: Peter Jackson’s got a cat named Mr. Smudge. Man after my own heart.

Have a great weekend, everyone!  Stay tuned…
