We’ve got some great announcement news to report here at The Digital Bits today, at the start of a new week...

First of all, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have begun announcing new 4K Ultra HD catalog titles licensed from Paramount, which so far include Stephen Surjik’s Wayne’s World 2 (1993) and Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s Kingpin (1996). We also expect Ken Finkleman’s Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) to be revealed soon as well. All are reported to be “coming soon” and we expect more titles to be revealed in the weeks ahead.

While we’re talking KL Studio Classics, we’ve learned that their already announced 4K release of Dante’s Peak (1997) has been delayed from its original 2/11 street date to 5/27. So adjust your plans accordingly.

Meanwhile, Paramount has officially set Star Trek: Section 31 (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, and Digital release on 4/29. Extras will include 5 featurettes (Art Squad, Alpha Squad, Stunts Squad, Gear Squad, and Georgiou) as well as a gag reel. (Though based on the reviews, the entire film may as well be a gag reel.) The Blu-ray SKUs will include Dolby Atmos audio.

Neon has set Steven Soderbergh’s Presence (2024) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 5/20. [Read on here...]

And Shout Studios has begun announcing new 4K Ultra HD titles for release in May, including Robert Zemeckis’s What Lies Beneath (2000) on 5/6, a Blaxploitation Classics: Volume One 4K box set on 5/20—the box includes Barry Shear’s Across 110th Street (1972), Jack Hill’s Coffy (1973), Larry Cohen’s Hell Up in Harlem (1973) and Black Caesar (1973), Jonathan Kaplan’s Truck Turner (1974), and William Girdler’s Sheba, Baby (1975) in one package—and finally Martin Brest’s Scent of a Woman (1992) and Kerry Conran’s Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) on 5/27.

Also announced for release on 5/27 by Shout and GKids is Naoko Yamada’s animated The Colors Within (2024) on Blu-ray and Blu-ray Steelbook. We expect more titles to be announced by Shout as well, so stay tuned.

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has listed Drew Hancock’s Companion (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 4/1.

And here’s something for you horror fans: Amazon UK is now taking pre-orders on a 4K Ultra HD Steelbook A Nightmare on Elm Street 7-Film Collection. All they have is temp art up and there’s no official street date listed. But this is definitely a title that we’ve confirmed Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment is working on, and based on studio leaks the planned street date was expected to be 9/23. You can see the temp art below with the Amazon UK pre-order link.

We’ll leave you today with a look at the cover artwork for some of the new Shout and Arrow 4K titles and more, with Amazon US or UK pre-order links if available...
