We’ve got three more Blu-rays for you today, including...

Tim’s look at Stewart Raffill’s Mac and Me: Collector’s Edition (1988) from Shout! Factory.

David Steigman’s take on Albert Pynn’s Blast (1997) from MVD.

And Dennis Seuling’s thoughts on Desmond Davis’ British comedy Smashing Time (1967) from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

I’m also working on several new 4K Ultra HD reviews, which should start appearing later this afternoon, so do check back for those.

In announcement news, we have details on Liongate’s next Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-ray title, Maximum Overdrive[Read on here...]

We mentioned it yesterday here on the website, but we now have final cover artwork from Lionsgate for their 4K Ultra HD release of Sam Raimi’s original The Evil Dead. You can see it at the left and also below.

Look for the disc to street on 10/9, and to include both a Blu-ray and a Digital Copy, for just $22.99.

As we reported yesterday, the 4K disc will include audio commentary with writer-director Sam Raimi, producer Robert Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell. The film has apparently been scanned in 4K (presumably from the original 16mm, though the studio’s press release doesn’t indicated the source), and the disc will feature Dolby Vision HDR and English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. All right, we’ve got a bunch more interesting news for you today…

First though, two more new Blu-ray reviews… Tim has just turned in his thoughts on Scream Factory’s Piranha II: The Spawning on Blu-ray, directed by no less than James Cameron. The disc streets on 7/31, and it’s worth a look.

Also, our own Dennis Seuling has given Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One a look on Blu-ray. That disc streets today and I do expect to review it on 4K Ultra HD as soon as Warner sends a review copy. Watch for that soon and enjoy the BD review from Dennis in the meantime.

Now then… Universal Studios Home Entertainment has just made Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom official for release on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 9/18 (as we predicted weeks ago), with the Digital release expected on 9/4. [Read on here...]
