Tim has offered his thoughts on Scream Factory’s recent 4K Ultra HD release of Fede Álvarez’s The Evil Dead (2013).
And Stephen has taken a look at Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing (1956) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Tsugunobu Kotani’s The Bermuda Depths (1978) from The Warner Archive Collection. The latter is a TV film co-produced by Rankin/Bass that many of us Gen-Xers saw as children, and that subsequently fell off the radar. So it’s great to see it on high-definition disc.
In announcement news today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has updated word of their forthcoming Rawhead Red (1986) 4K UHD release with a street date: Look for it to arrive on 2/21/23 with a new scan of the original camera negative and Dolby Vision HDR.
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has also revealed more great forthcoming catalog Blu-ray titles on their social media feeds, including Buzz Kulik’s Warning Shot (1968) on 1/10, Allan Holzman’s Programmed to Kill (1987) and Richard Pearce’s No Mercy (1986) on 1/17, Orson Welles’ The Lady from Shanghai (1948) and Peter Newbrook’s The Asphyx (1972 – including the 86-minute UK cut and the 99-minute US extended cut) on 1/31, Chris Menges’ A World Apart (1988), Henry Levin and David Lowell Rich’s That Man Bolt (1973), Sidney Lanfield’s Sorrowful Jones (1949), Frank Lloyd’s If I Were King (1938), Piero Pierotti and Hugo Fregonese’s Marco Polo (1962), and Richard Wilson’s Raw Wind in Eden (1958) on 2/7, and Stuart Walker’s White Woman (1933), Francois Truffaut’s The Story of Adele H. (1975), Mississippi Mermaid (1970), and The Bride Wore Black (1968), and The Francois Truffaut Collection (1970-1978) (includes The Wild Child, Small Change, The Man Who Loved Women, and The Green Room) on 2/14.

Meanwhile, our friends at Vinegar Syndrome have just made Road House (1989), Freeway (1996), and The Invisible Maniac (1990) available for 4K Ultra HD directly from their online web store.
The MPI Media Group has set Tobe Hooper’s original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 2/28/23.
MPI has also announced a new The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet: Ultimate Christmas Collection for DVD only release on 12/6. The 2-disc set contains 14 fully-restored, remastered, and holiday-themed episodes from the classic 1950-60s TV series.
Mill Creek Entertainment has set Running the Bases for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K on 2/21/23.
And Synapse Films will release a standard edition of Dario Argento’s Phenomena (1985) on 4K Ultra HD on 3/14/23.
Finally today, here’s something cool for you James Bond fans: Our friends at La-La Land Records have just announced a new 2-disc expanded and remastered Limited Edition CD soundtrack release of David Arnold’s score for Tomorrow Never Dies!
