All right, let’s start with good news about CBS’ recent restoration of My Fair Lady. As we’ve been reporting, CBS has told us the title was delayed until the Fall. Playbill is now reporting that the My Fair Lady: 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray will officially street on 10/27. Why October? Well, the film originally premiered in New York on 10/21, followed by Los Angeles on 10/28 back in 1964.  [Read on here…]

In other release news today, Warner Home Video has set The Following: The Complete Third and Final Season for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/13.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is releasing Rick Famuyiwa’s Dope on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/13 as well. Extras will include 2 featurettes (Dope is Different and Dope Music).

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has set The Last Man on Earth: The Complete First Season for DVD only release on 9/22, followed by Fresh Off the Boat: The Complete First Season on DVD on 9/29.

Speaking of Fox, their The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 40th Anniversary Celebration and Edward Scissorhands: 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray sets are now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Here’s what they look like (click the art to visit the pre-order pages)...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 40th Anniversary Celebration (Blu-ray Disc)

Edward Scissorhands: 25th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray Disc)

Flicker Alley’s Masterworks of American Avant-garde Experimental Film 1920-1970 DVD/Blu-ray Combo is coming out on 10/6 (SRP $59.95). You’ll also get great extras, including 2K restorations of Manhatta (1920-21) and Ballet Mechanique (1924), previously unavailable, unique versions of Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), In the Street (1948, 1952), N.Y., N.Y. (1958), Castro Street (1966), and Film That Rises to the Surface of Clarified Butter (1968), as well as Sappho and Jerry, Parts 1-3 (1977-78), Seasons... (2002), Ch an (1983), and a 28-page booklet featuring an essay and extensive notes on restorations by curator, filmmaker, and film historian Bruce Posner.

Meanwhile, Anchor Bay has set 7 Minutes for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/1, as well as Dito Montiel’s Boulevard on both formats – the film features one of Robin Williams’ last performances.

Sony Pictures is releasing Testament of Youth on Blu-ray on 10/20.

Robellion Films will release Eric Robel’s The Color of Noise: Special Edition on Blu-ray/DVD Combo on 11/24.

City Drive Films is releasing the documentary The Square on Blu-ray on 11/24 as well.

RLJ Entertainment will release Dark Was the Night on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/1.

Magnolia has set Skin Trade for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/25, starring Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa.

Finally, check this out: Universal Pictures in France is releasing a massive 38-disc Blu-ray box set on 10/6 called (roughly) Battlestar Galactica: The Ultimate Collection which includes the complete Ron Moore Battlestar Galactica series (with Razor, Blood and Chrome, and The Plan), Caprica, the original 1970s Battlestar Galactica and also Galactica: 1980. And a quick scan of the translated extras list suggests it might even include a few extras not found on the U.S. BD set (though it does not seem to have the infamous Face of the Enemy webisodes). The box and disc packaging even have the corners shaved off, like in-universe books in the Ron Moore series. Looks like the set is all-region, but of course all the SD extras will be in PAL format. The crazy thing is that the cost is 99.99 Euros, which is about $110 US dollars. I doubt if this will ever be released here in the States, but it’s still pretty cool nonetheless. Anyway, here’s what it looks like (and the link will take you to the Amazon.fr page – thanks to Bits reader Anthony S. for spotting this)...
