We’ve got some great Blu-ray and 4K release news to share with you all today...

Let’s start with Paramount... as expected, Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place: Part II later this month on 7/27, with the Digital only release expected tomorrow (on 7/13). You’ll also be able to buy a 2-Movie Collection on Blu-ray and Digital. A Quiet Place: Part II in 4K will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.

Extras will include 5 featurettes (Director’s Diary: Filming with John Krasinski, Pulling Back the Curtain, Regan’s Journey, Surviving the Marina, and Detectable Disturbance: Visual Effects and Sound Design). You can see the cover artwork above left and also below (complete with its Amazon pre-order link).

Speaking of Paramount, the studio has announced that it’s releasing Hardball, starring Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane, on Blu-ray for the first time on 9/21 in honor of the film’s 20th anniversary. Extras will include audio commentary by director Brian Robbins and writer John Gatins, The Making of Hardball, deleted scenes, the Hardball music video, interstitials, and the film’s theatrical trailer. You can see the cover art below. [Read on here...]

Paramount is also releasing The Longest Yard (2005) and Necessary Roughness (1991) on Blu-ray on 9/21.

And the studio’s next Paramount Presents Blu-ray release (#26 in the line-up) will be Jonathan Mostow’s Kurt Russell thriller Breakdown (1997) on 9/21. You can see the cover art for that film below as well.

Also, Kino Lorber Studio Classics is releasing Carl Reiner’s classic Steve Martin comedy-noir Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid on Blu-ray on 9/21.

A quick word about Constantin Film’s German 4K Ultra HD release of The Neverending Story (available to order from Amazon.de here): Bits readers who have received the 2-disc Blu-ray/4K UHD combo report that both discs are ALL REGION and work just fine on US Blu-ray and 4K players. So if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to import the title here.

Meanwhile, Best Buy has revealed the cover artwork for their 4K Ultra HD Steelbook edition of Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption, which is due in stores on 9/14, as we’ve long reported in our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits. A wide release 4K Ultra HD in standard Amaray packaging will also be available. We expect Warner Bros. Home Entertainment to officially announce the title anytime now. Anyway, you can see the Steelbook packaging here...

By the way, Best Buy has also unofficially confirmed the street dates for Warner’s A Clockwork Orange in 4K (9/21), as well as Universal’s Rear Window and Vertigo as 4K singles (9/7). All three of these films are on the way to 4K Ultra HD on the dates noted, and Best Buy will have exclusive Steelbook packaging for each.

Also today, here’s something very cool: Krzysztof Kieslowski’s magnificent Three Colors Trilogy (Blue, White, and Red) is coming to remastered Blu-ray & 4K Ultra HD in France on November 2 from MK2. Now, it’s possible that the MK2 release will not include English subtitles, so it’s best to know that before pre-ordering (we’ll try to confirm as soon as possible). In the meantime, if you do wish to pre-order, you can do so now here at Amazon.fr and Amazon.de. And here’s a look at the early temp art for the release...

Finally today, for you cinephiles, we’ve got an interesting article for you to check out from Fast Company on how Netflix mandates the use of digital cameras with “true 4K UHD sensors” for all of its Netflix Original film projects. You can find that here. (And thanks to Bits reader Joe G. for the link!)

All right, we’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a number of the titles mentioned above, with Amazon pre-order links...
