By the way, Amazon is also taking pre-orders on Lionsgate’s Insurgent on Blu-ray and DVD, street date TBA.

Okay… a lot of you have asked when and if the vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows is coming to Blu-ray. It is, but it’s not available for pre-order anywhere that we can see yet. The digital/iTunes release is due on 5/5. The Blu-ray and DVD are apparently set to street two weeks later, on 5/19. Extras are expected to include the original 2005 short film, deleted scenes, and audio commentary by both directors. We’ll let you know when we have details on where you can purchase a copy. [Editor’s Update: The Blu-ray and DVD are officially due on 5/19, distributed by The Orchard. We’ll post cover art and pre-order links as they become available.]

Better still, they’ve also set Wes Craven’s The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988) for BD release in August. Street dates and extras are TBA.

Kino Lorber has added Robert Parrish’s A Town Called Hell (1971 – aka A Town Called Bastard) for BD and DVD release in August. The film stars Robert Shaw, Telly Savalas and Martin Landau. Tough to go wrong there. Kino has also set Sidney Salkow’s Twice Told Tales (1963), starring Vincent Price and Sebastian Cabot, for release “just in time for Halloween”. Street dates are again TBA.
