Arrow’s July includes Hugo 4K, plus Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Flash: Complete Series, Laurel & Hardy: Year One, Severin’s Black Emanuelle Blu-ray box & MUCH more!

We’ve got three new disc reviews for you to enjoy today...

I’ve taken a look at Mimi Leder’s Deep Impact (1998) in 4K Ultra HD from Paramount.

And Dennis has turned in his thoughts on Robert Thornby’s The Trap (1922) on Blu-ray from Kino Classics, as well as Billie August’s The House of the Spirits (1993) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films.

In announcement news today, Arrow Video has just revealed their July Blu-ray and 4K slate, which is set to include Lewis Teague’s Fighting Back (1982) on Blu-ray (US and Canada only) on 7/4, the previously-revealed Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest box set on Blu-ray, 4K, and 4K Limited Edition (UK only) on 7/17, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo (2011) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD (US and Canada only) on 7/18, and the Blood Money: Four Western Classics – Volume 2 box set on Blu-ray (UK, US, and Canada) on 7/25. It’s worth noting that Hugo will include the film on Blu-ray (in 2D and also 3D) as well as 4K (with Dolby Vision HDR), and you’ll get a Blu-ray bonus disc too. The Blood Money: Four Western Classics – Volume 2 box will include the films $10,000 Blood Money (1967), Vengeance Is Mine (1967), Find a Place to Die (1968), and Matalo! (Kill Him) (1970). And the Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K set includes The Big Boss (1971), The Big Boss: Mandarin Cut (1971), Fist of Fury (1972), The Way of the Dragon (1972), and Game of Death (1978) in 4K Ultra HD, along with Blu-ray versions of the Game of Death: Hong Kong Cut (1978), Enter the Dragon (1973), Game of Death II (1981), Bruce Lee: The Man & The Legend (1973), and Bruce Lee, The Legend (1984).

CBS Studios and Paramount have officially set Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Season One for wide 4K Ultra HD release on 6/6. This version comes in an Amaray case. The previous Steelbook 4K edition was apparently a limited edition release and is now sold out on Amazon (though you can still pre-order it on Best Buy for the moment). The Blu-ray edition is already available, having streeted on 3/21.

Also for TV fans, The Flash: The Complete Ninth Season and The Flash: The Complete Series are each coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 8/29 from DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

AMC has set Tales of the Walking Dead for Blu-ray release on 6/2, followed by Moonhaven on Blu-ray on 7/18.

MPI has set Yûichirô Hirakawa’s Whisper of the Heart (2022) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 6/20. This is a live action adaptation of the original 1989 manga of the same name. The film was previously adapted as an animated film by Hayao Miyazaki in 1995.

Flicker Alley has just announced the Blu-ray release of Laurel & Hardy: Year One on 7/25, featuring all new restorations of Lucky Dog (1921), 45 Minutes from Hollywood (1926), Duck Soup (1927), Slipping Wives (1927), Love ‘em and Weep (1927), Why Girls Love Sailors (1927), With Love and Hisses (1927), Sugar Daddies (1927), Sailors, Beware! (1927), The Second 100 Years (1927), Call of the Cuckoo (1927), Do Detectives Think? (1927), Putting Pants on Phillip (1927), The Battle of the Century (1927), and Flying Elephants (1928). You’ll also get audio commentaries on each film by historian Randy Skretvedt, an audio commentary on The Battle of the Century by Skretvedt and Serge Bromberg, 2 featurettes (Restoring Laurel & Hardy and Laurel & Hardy On-Location), a Slide Show Presentation on the film Hats Off! (1927) which is currently believed to be lost, image galleries, additional musical scores, a booklet, and more.

Severin Films has announced a new 15-disc/24-film sexploitation Blu-ray box set called The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle for release on 7/25. The set will include Black Emanuelle (1975), Black Emanuelle 2 (1976), Emanuelle in Bangkok (1976), Emanuelle in America (1976), Emanuelle Around the World (1977), Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977), Porno Nights of the World (1977), Emanuelle and the Porno Nights of the World (1978), Sister Emanuelle (1977), Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade (1978), Violence in a Woman’s Prison (1982), Emanuelle in Prison (1985), Black Cobra (1976), Black Velvet (1976), Emanuelle’s Perverse Outburst (1983), Porno Esotic Love (1980), Emanuelle Queen of the Desert (1982), Free Love (1974), Emanuelle: A Woman from a Hot Country (1978), Black Deep Throat (1977), Porno Nights of the World N.2 (1978), Inferno Rosso: Joe D’Amato on the Road of Excess (2021), and Scandalous Emanuelle (1986), plus a ton of disc-based special features, 2 soundtrack CDs, and a 356-page book entitled The Black Emanuelle Bible. And finally today, the UK company Deep Vision Studios is working to release a new Blu-ray 3D conversion of Mario Caiano’s Italian horror film Nightmare Castle (1965).
