All right, we’re here at The Bits today closing out what I must say is one of the more interesting weeks I’ve experienced in my 52 years on this planet.

But we’ve got a new review to keep you amused this afternoon: I’ve just turned in my thoughts on Sam Mendes’ Best Picture-nominated 1917 in 4K Ultra HD. It’s an impressive A/V experience with a native 4K digital intermediate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ high dynamic range, a fine Dolby Atmos sound mix, and dazzling Oscar-winning cinematography by Roger Deakins. There are even a couple of fine audio commentaries on the disc too. Don’t miss it.

Also today, our friends at The Warner Archive Collection have just officially announced no less than SEVEN great new catalog Blu-ray titles that are coming in April. [Read on here...]

Among them are Richard T. Heffron’s (long-awaited) V: The Final Battle (1984), Terence Young’s Action of the Tiger (1957), and Ron Shelton’s Tin Cup (1996) on 4/14, Norman Foster’s Rachel and the Stranger (1948) and John Huston’s Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967) on 4/21, and Richard Brooks’ Sweet Bird of Youth (1962) and Robert Wise’s Blood on the Moon (1948) on 4/28.

Here’s a look at a little bit of the cover artwork (we’ll add Amazon links when available)...

Meanwhile, our friends at Second Sight in the UK have just announced that George A. Romero’s Martin (1978) and Dawn of the Dead (1978) are officially coming as Limited Edition 4K Ultra HDs on 10/26. They’ll be available for pre-order (here on the Second Sight website) starting on 3/17. Here’s a sneak peek at the Dawn of the Dead packaging...

We have GREAT news today for some of you interested in pre-ordering the forthcoming Paramount Presents Blu-ray titles (due on 4/21) around the world—the titles are officially confirmed to be ALL REGION! That includes Fatal Attraction, King Creole, and To Catch a Thief. And I’ve also confirmed that Paramount does have plans to release these titles internationally as well, so eventually they should be widely available around the globe.

Meanwhile, here’s the Amazon pre-order links for those...

And finally today, Paramount has just announced a couple more new catalog Blu-ray releases, including a Friday the 13th: 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Steelbook on 5/5 (set to include the uncut/unrated version of the film, a Digital copy of the original theatrical cut, and previously released bonus content) and—exclusively at FYE stores—a Tommy Boy: 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Steelbook on 3/31.

That’s all for now. Everyone stay home, have a great and virus free weekend, and watch a bunch of great movies on disc or streaming.

Stay tuned and peace out!
