By the way, on a related note... SpaceX is getting ready to launch their new CrewDragon spacecraft to the International Space Station for the first time in the wee early hours of Saturday morning. This is the first of two demo/test flights and this first one will not carry astronauts. However, it will be carrying a spacesuited mannequin to test launch loads on eventual human passengers. Here’s why this is relevant: SpaceX’s Hans Koenigsmann just revealed on NASA TV that the spacesuited mannequin that will be riding on Saturday morning’s mission is called “Ripley” in honor of Alien and Sigourney Weaver. Nice touch, SpaceX.

I’m also pleased to say that I’ve finally gotten my Oppo UDP-203 4K player back from servicing! So I will be resuming 4K UHD Blu-ray reviews over the weekend, beginning with Disney’s Captain America: The First Avenger. By the way, I’m also pleased to say that Oppo customer service remains as terrific as ever. From the time I sent the player to the time I had it back good as new, I only had to wait about a week. (And to Oppo: Thanks, guys!)
Also here at The Bits today, our own Bud Elder has turned in a great new View from the Cheap Seats column in which he remembers his friend Burt Reynolds. Bud also runs down the latest in classic and indie Blu-ray and DVD releases.
