Halloween Hangover – 2015 (The Leftovers!)

November 6, 2015 - 8:00 am   |   by

Well… Halloween Hangover took its toll this year, but thankfully, I escaped it with plenty of coffee and support from our readers. Hopefully, you enjoyed it and we did our bit to honor the past Halloween review work of longtime Bits staff writer Adam Jahnke. So thanks for tuning in – we really appreciate it. (Note that you can find all the reviews listed here, and they’re also in our regular review index here.)

In the frenzy of review madness, I actually collected so many possible titles for review that I had a few good ones left over. There were also a couple titles that arrived too late to be included in the regular Hangover line-up.  [Read on here...]

Halloween Hangover! – 2015

October 31, 2015 - 2:01 am   |   by

We all miss Dr. Jahnke here at The Digital Bits, especially his annual Oktoberfest reviews during the Halloween season. So since I'm a big fan of horror movies myself, we’re going to carry on that tradition in the same spirit, but mix it up a bit. I’ll be spending the month reviewing not just the newest horror titles currently hitting the market, but also some others that we haven’t covered here previously and that you might have overlooked (all of which are well worth your time and hard-earned cash). In this week’s installment of Pick-Ups, we’re going to catch up on some more recent Scream titles on Blu-ray.

It should go without saying that we’re big fans of Scream Factory here at The Digital Bits. It’s terrific that they seem to have helped generate more interest in not just big horror titles, like They Live and Halloween, but also horror movies that tend to have been forgotten over the years. We also appreciate when they debut obscure horror movies that haven’t had a release on Blu-ray before, let alone DVD. Their efforts also encourage other companies to dig deeper for similar titles. So the more support that physical media gets, the better, eh?  [Read on here...]

Welcome back to my Dailies feature, Pick-Ups!

It’s designed to feature older Blu-ray and DVD releases that we haven’t gotten around to reviewing until now (sorry about that!), as well as highlight select international releases and other unique titles on disc. I try to do this column on a weekly basis, so be sure to check back regularly for more titles that are worthy of your attention.

Being a big fan of the cult TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000, I decided that it was time for The Bits to have all of the wonderful boxed sets available from Shout! Factory in our database. [Read on here...]
