Ghostbusters: 30th Anniversary Edition, Once Upon a Time in America: Extended Director’s Cut – CE & Without Warning

We’ve got a couple more bits of announcement news for you today...

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that it’s celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Ghostbusters with a new limited (to 700 theaters) theatrical re-release on 8/29 and also new 4K-remastered Blu-ray editions of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II on 9/16. Each Blu-ray will be a 2-disc set in Digibook packaging. There will also be a Limited Edition box set of both films, including an exclusive Slimer figurine. It appears that all of the prevoius extras will carry over to the new editions, and you’ll get new disc-based content too. [Read on here...]

New extras on Ghostbusters will include the Who You Gonna Call: A Ghostbusters Retrospective roundtable discussion with director Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd, a new poster art gallery, and Ray Parker, Jr.’s Ghostbusters music video. New extras on Ghostbusters II will include the Time Is But a Window: Ghostbusters II and Beyond roundtable discussion with Reitman and Aykroyd, deleted scenes and Bobby Brown’s On Our Own music video. The studio has also created a new website – Ghostbusters.com – with all new content.

Meanwhile, Warner Home Video has set Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America for 2-disc Extended Director’s Cut Collector’s Edition Blu-ray for release on 9/30 (SRP $34.99). It will also come in Digibook packaging (32 pages) which include “with rare photos and insightful notes that chronicle the movie’s production history” and a letter written by Martin Scorsese. The film runs 251 minutes and was restored with the involvement of Scorsese’s The Film Foundation. Extras will include commentary by film historian and critic Richard Schickel and the Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone documentary. Note that there will also be a single-disc Blu-ray (SRP $19.98) and a 2-disc DVD re-issue (SRP $14.97). Here’s what that looks like (the Amazon link will be added when available)…

Finally, Shout! Factory has officially set Without Warning for Blu-ray Combo release on 8/5 (SRP $26.99). Extras will include audio commentary with producer/director Greydon Clark, new interviews (with cinematographer Dean Cundey, co-writer/co-producer Daniel Grodnik, special make-up effects creator Greg Cannom and actors Christopher S. Nelson and Tarah Nutter), a still gallery, and the theatrical trailer.
