Early Man, Game Night, your first look at Mission: Impossible 4K art, Kino’s Maze 3D & a new Talking Blu

by

All right, we’re closing out the week with a couple things...

First of all, Lionsgate has set Aardman Animation’s Early Man for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/22, with the Digital release expected on 5/15. Extras will include 4 featurettes (Before the Beginning of Time: Creating Early Man, Nick Park: Massaging the Funny, The Valley Meets the Bronze, and Hanging at Aardman Studios: A Workshop Exploration). There’s no 4K Ultra HD release currently planned for the U.S., but there is one expected in the U.K., at least for now.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set the comedy Game Night for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/22, with the Digital release expected on 5/1. Extras will include a gag reel and a featurette called An Unforgettable Evening: Making Game Night. [Read on here...]

Warner will also release the young adult drama Every Day on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/5, with the Digital release expected on 5/22.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Supercon for release on DVD on 6/5, with the Digital release expected on 4/27 (the same day the film hits theaters).

Kino Lorber is releasing William Cameron Menzies’ 1953 3D horror film The Maze on Blu-ray 3D and DVD on 4/24. The Blu-ray will feature the film “digitally restored from the original left and right eye camera negatives by Paramount Pictures Archive in association with The Film Foundation” in 4K. Extras will include audio commentary by film historians Tom Weaver, Bob Furmanek, Dr. Robert Kiss, and David Schechter, an interview with star Veronica Hurst, restored three-channel stereophonic sound by Eckhard Büttner, and the original 3D trailer.

On the 4K Ultra HD front, it appears that Best Buy is taking pre-orders on the 6/26 4K UHD release of the original Jack Reacher. You can see the cover artwork below.

Speaking of Paramount, we’ve got your exclusive first look at the official cover artwork for Paramount’s 4K Ultra HD release of the Mission: Impossible film franchise on 6/26. You can see that below too, and all the covers link to their Amazon.com pre-order pages.

We’ve also heard from our retail and industry sources that Universal has tentatively set The Big Lebowski and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood: Director’s Cut for 4K Ultra HD release in the July through August timeframe. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with these titles and many more today, so do give it a look.

Finally today, we’re pleased to present the second part of our recent Talking Blu with The Digital Bits look at recently announced 4K Ultra HD catalog titles. Tom and Andre from Midnight’s Edge join me to discuss the titles we know for sure are coming, as well as a few that are possible for release on 2018. Enjoy!

And that’s it for this week. We’ll leave you with a look at all of that 4K cover artwork we mentioned above and some other titles as well. Click on the covers to pre-order each of them on Amazon (if available)...
