Of Unknown Origin, Trading Places, Coming to America, Counselor, Corbucci’s Great Silence, Solo trailer & more

We’re kicking off the new week with a new Blu-ray review and some announcement news too. First up, that review...

Our own Tim Salmons has checked in with his thoughts on Scream Factory’s new Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray release of John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13. Do check it out and watch for more reviews tomorrow.

Speaking of Scream Factory, the company has officially announced the extras you’ll find on their Of Unknown Origin Blu-ray on 5/22. Look for a new 2K scan from the interpositive, 3 new featurettes (The Origins of Unknown Origin, That Rat Movie, and Hey, Weren’t You in Scanners?), audio commentary director George P. Cosmatos and actor Peter Weller, theatrical trailers, and a still gallery.

In announcement news today, Paramount has revealed that they’re re-releasing Trading Places on Blu-ray on 6/12 in honor of its 35th anniversary. The same day, they’re also re-issuing Coming to America on the format in honor of its 30th anniversary. All the legacy extras will carry over and this time the discs will include a Digital Copy as well. [Read on here...]

I believe we’ve mentioned this before, but now it’s official: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Peter Rabbit for release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on 5.1, with the Digital release expected on 4/20.

Ridley Scott’s The Counselor is coming to Blu-ray as an Unrated Extended Cut from 20th Century Fox on 5/8.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set the animated Wacky Races: Start Your Engines – Season 1, Volume 1 for DVD only release on 4/24.

Lionsgate has set Flower for DVD only release on 6/19. Look also for the studio to release the horror film Winchester on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/1, with the Digital release expected on 4/17.

Cinedigm is releasing the all-new animated Steam Engines of Oz on Blu-ray on 6/5, starring Ron Perlman, William Shatner, and Julianne Hough.

Film Movement Classics has set Sergio Corbucci’s restored 1968 spaghetti western The Great Silence for Blu-ray release on 6/5. We expect official details on extras soon.

For John Carpenter fans, there’s an all-region import Blu-ray double feature that includes Vampires and Ghosts of Mars coming on 5/18.

Here’s something interesting: Amazon Studios is releasing the Ai Weiwei documentary Human Flow as a BD-R on demand release on 5/8.

Echo Bridge is releasing The Humanity Bureau on Blu-ray on 6/12.

RLJ Entertainment and Acorn are releasing Dear Murderer: Series 1 on DVD on 5/1, followed by Ackley Bridge: Series 1 and Midsomer Murders: Country Case Files on DVD on 5/8. Look for I Kill Giants on Blu-ray and DVD from RLJ on 5/22. And RLJ and Acorn will release Detectorists: Series 3 and East West 101: Series 2 on DVD only on 5/29.

And Amazon.com pre-orders are finally open for Paramount’s US release of Terminator Genisys on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Click on the title link or here for that.
