Afternoon, folks! Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

We’ve got some new disc reviews for you to enjoy today...

I’ve taken a look at Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes (2009) on 4K Ultra HD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. It’s a nice (if modest) image upgrade on the format that fans of the film especially should appreciate. HDR gives the proceedings a nice boost.

Also, Dennis has taken a look at David Lynch’s The Elephant Man, which is now available on Blu-ray from The Criterion Collection. Sounds like it’s a very worthy upgrade, mastered from the new StudioCanal 4K transfer. And for those of you wondering, the “missing” fade from the StudioCanal 4K is also missing here. But do keep in mind that Lynch approved the remaster, so it’s possible he made the change himself (meaning it might not be an error).

Now then, we’ve got more reviews coming over the next few days. Two are already to go for tomorrow and more should follow. So stay tuned for that. [Read on here...]

In announcement news today, our friends at Imprint Films (Via Vision Entertainment) down in Australia have announced the third wave of their catalog Blu-ray releases. Once again, these should all be all region, so you can safely import them if you wish. Coming on 12/30 are:

Dead Again (1991), Year of the Dragon (1985), At Close Range (1986), Fire in the Sky (1993), Rage (1966), and The Deep (1977). Here’s what they look like...

Imprint Films December 2020 slate

Each is limited to 1500 copies and will include new and/or legacy bonus features. You can order direct from Imprint Films today and get a 13% discount. If you order all 6 of the December titles, you can get them for $180, which represents a 25% discount (and you’ll probably save on shipping too – click here for that link). We’ll add the Amazon links when available. Note that these are a mix of titles owned by a variety of studios (At Close Range is an Orion title, Year of the Dragon is MGM/UA, Dead Again and Fire in the Sky are Paramount titles, and Rage and The Deep are Columbia Pictures).

Speaking of Paramount, the studio’s recently revealed Collateral 4K Ultra HD release is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Street date is 12/8. You can see the cover artwork above and below. Click here or on the artwork below to pre-order. We’re told the film has been remastered and the disc will include HDR10 high dynamic range and the existing special features.

Also, don’t forget that their long-delayed Top Gun Steelbook 4K release is finally set for release on 12/1. You can pre-order that below.

And we have an update from our friends at Vinegar Syndrome with the street date for The Beastmaster BD/4K, Fade to Black BD and the mystery Giallo BD set... look for all of them to street on 11/27.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover art for two of the titles mentioned above, along with Akira in 4K and Scream Factory’s Friday the 13th Blu-ray box set. All are available for pre-order on Amazon now by clicking on the images...
