In announcement news today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics revealed over the weekend that they’re bringing Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight (1998) to 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR late this year. Street date and features are still TBA.
Also, Second Sight Films has set Jennifer Kent’s psychological horror film The Babadook (2014) for release on 4K in the UK as part of a UHD/Blu-ray Limited Edition box set on 6/21. Look for this to include a 150-page hardcover book with essays, artwork and more.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has finally officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Ilya Naishuller’s Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk, on 6/22, with the Digital release set for 6/8. Looks like the 4K will have HDR10 high dynamic range, with both Blu-ray and 4K adding Dolby Atmos audio. Extras on the Blu-ray and 4K will include deleted scenes, feature commentary with Naishuller, a second commentary with Naishuller and Odenkirk, and 3 featurettes (Hutch Hits Hard, Breaking Down the Action, and Just a Nobody). And here’s a bit of frustrating news for fans of David Lynch’s Dune in the States: It appears that Koch Media in Germany will release a special 7-disc Dune: Ultimate Edition box set featuring the newly-restored Theatrical Cut in 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, along with 2 Blu-ray discs of bonus features, TWO different versions of the Extended TV Edition on Blu-ray (apparently restored in HD mostly from film, with some portions sourced from analog video tape where film no longer exists), and the film’s soundtrack on CD. The package, which appears to be exclusive to the Koch Media web store (and they do not ship to the US), will also include the Ron Miller production design book, a booklet with an essay by Paul Poet, and a reproduction of the Marvel Comics adaptation by Bill Sienkiewicz and Ralph Macchio (not that Ralph Macchio).
Some of this content will be identical to the Arrow Video US and UK releases, while some of these features (including the Extended Editions and soundtrack) are exclusive to this release. Meanwhile, Arrow Video has exclusive features on their edition that are NOT in Koch’s set, including the commentaries by Paul M. Sammon and Mike White. So this is definitely going to be a Sophie’s choice situation for fans of the film trying to decide which to buy. Koch’s set is 99.99 Euros (about $122 US dollars). But again, it’s exclusive to their online store which doesn’t ship to the States (here’s a link... and sorry for the tease). It’s also very likely that the Blu-ray Discs in the Koch set will be region locked, so you’ll probably need an all-region player to access them.
As frustrating as all this may be, I should probably remind everyone that the fact that the Extended Edition is not included in Arrow’s set is not up to Arrow—they definitely wanted to have it, but Universal has apparently pulled that version from distribution here in the States. So there you go.

Also today, Shout! Factory has just set their new Laika Studios Editions of The BoxTrolls and Coraline for release on Blu-ray on 8/31. Also coming to Blu-ray in August from Shout! and Scream are Take Back on 8/3, Havoc: Shout Select on 8/10, Fast Vengeance, The Rebels of PT-218, and The Borrower on 8/17, and A Return to Salem’s Lot, Dreambuilders, and The Oh, God! Collection: Shout Select (includes Oh, God!, Oh, God! Book II, and Oh, God! You Devil) on 8/24.
Vinegar Syndrome has also revealed new Blu-ray editions of Alley Cat and Champagne and Bullets that are available now on their website.
And Imprint Films’ latest rounds of Blu-ray titles from down under include Haunted, The Brotherhood of Satan, The Awakening, Stephen King’s Dead Zone, the Silver Screams Cinema Collection (includes Unknown Terror, Return of the Ape Man, The Vampire’s Ghost, She Devil, Valley of the Zombies, and The Phantom Speaks), and Hammer Horror (includes Countess Dracula, Hands of the Ripper, Twins of Evil, and Vampire Circus) in July, followed by Double Jeopardy, As Good As it Gets, Drugstore Cowboy, Chinese Box, Days of Heaven, and The Straight Story in August. You can see those here. Most (if not all) should be all-region, but importing them isn’t cheap.
