Speaking of Fox, the Australian DVD retailer EzyDVD has just listed Ridley Scott’s The Martian: Extended Cut for Blu-ray release on 6/8 (you can see the listing here). That, of course, is a Wednesday, so if the date is accurate it likely means Tuesday 6/7 here in the States. We might learn more from Fox at the WonderCon convention this weekend in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Arrow Films (via Arrow Academy) is releasing Francesco Rosi’s Three Brothers on Blu-ray and DVD on 4/4. The disc will include a new 2K restoration of the film, original mono audio, newly translated English subtitles, an archival interview with Francesco Rosi, the film’s original theatrical trailer, reversible sleeve art featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Matthew Griffin, and a booklet (featuring an essay by Professor Millicent Martin, a 1981 interview with Rosi and a selection of contemporary reviews – this on the first printing only).
Also today, you can now pre-order Universal’s Airport: The Complete Collection Blu-ray (which we revealed yesterday here at The Bits is coming on 6/14) via this link on Amazon.com. We’ll post the official cover artwork as soon as it comes in.

In other news this afternoon, there’s word that Sony may be working on a new 4K-upgraded version of its dominating PlayStation 4 videogame console system. This would certainly include the ability to play games in 4K and to stream 4K UHD content, and it may even include the ability to play actual 4K UHD Blu-ray Discs. You can read more here.
Finally today, much is being made in the industry press (see this link at Variety) of the fact that a Blu-ray-ripped copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has apparently become available online via the various torrent sites. Press copies of this title are only now about to ship, which means this leak probably originated in one of the replication facilities that produced the discs. In any case, the Blu-ray streets in just two weeks, so fans shouldn’t have long to wait for their authorized copies. You can pre-order a copy from Amazon by clicking on the cover artwork below. Note that we should have our review copy in hand here at The Bits in the next couple of days, which means you can look for our in-depth review to be posted by this weekend at the latest (and possibly as soon as Friday morning).
