First up today, Tim Salmons has posted a new Pick-Ups edition of his Dailies column which will offer up a few more reviews of recent Blu-ray titles. The first of those for this week is Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk, now available on Blu-ray from Sony. Do give it a look. It’s a much better film than we were expecting. [Read on here…]

In announcement news today, Flicker Alley, the Film Noir Foundation, and the UCLA Film & Television Archive have collaborated to restore and release the lost film noir classics Woman on the Run (1950) and Too Late for Tears (1949). The Chicago Tribune’s Nina Metz has written a nice feature on the history of Woman on the Run that’s well worth reading this afternoon. Thanks to Bits reader Roberto-Juan G. for bringing it to our attention.

Meanwhile, Warner Home Video will release the animated Justice League vs. Teen Titans on both formats on 4/12.

Sony has set The Driftless Area for DVD and digital release on 4/26.

Scream Factory has set William Castle’s 1965 I Saw What You Did for Blu-ray release on 5/17. Of course you know, the film stars the great Joan Crawford. Also coming from Scream on 5/10 is You’ll Like My Mother (1972).

Well Go USA has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of Wilson Yip’s Ip Man 3 on 4/19, starring Donnie Yen and Mike Tyson.

Music Box Films has set Pablo Larrin’s The Club for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/3.

Acorn has set And Then There Were None for Blu-ray and DVD release on 4/19.

Cinedigm will release The Midnight Man on DVD and digital on 3/1.

Kino Lorber has revealed that Peter Yates’ Eleni (1985) is “coming soon” to Blu-ray and DVD.

And Lionsgate has Extraction and Racing Extinction coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 2/23.

In other news today, we’ve learned that Criterion is currently working on a Blu-ray and DVD release of Wim Wenders’ director’s cut of Until the End of the World. That’s a film viewing experience I’ve wanted to have for a long time. No word on when it might be added to the collection, but the film has been screened in New York and Berlin in recent months.

Here’s something cool for you Carpenter fans. Some of you may be aware that Sacred Bones Records recently released a pair of CDs featuring music composed by John Carpenter: Lost Themes and Lost Themes Remixed. Now they’re getting ready to release John Carpenter’s Lost Themes II on 4/15. Click here and here for more on this.

And finally, this is interesting: Disney is apparently preparing new “special editions” of The Muppet Show: Seasons 1, 2 and 3 for DVD release on 3/15. These episodes are apparently remastered and include new extras. Click on the title links in this paragraph for the Amazon listings. No word yet on whether or not we’ll finally see Seasons 4 and 5 released.

We’ll leave you today with a look at more new Blu-ray cover artwork (with Amazon pre-order links if available)…

Woman on the Run (Blu-ray Disc)    Too Late for Tears (Blu-ray Disc)    Vincent Price Collection III (Blu-ray Disc)

Little House on the Priarie: Season 8 (Blu-ray Disc)    I Confess (Blu-ray Disc)    The Wrong Man (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned…
