The Star Trek: TNG films are indeed coming in 4K on 4/4, plus Flashdance, a Cameron UHD update, Coppola’s B’Twixt & Tencent’s Three-Body series
Well, there’s never a dull moment in this business and today is certainly a perfect example that. We’ve got some good Star Trek 4K news for you this afternoon, and a little bit of James Cameron 4K news too. Plus some other good announcements and links on top of all that! But first, more new disc reviews...
We start with Stephen, who’s turned in a look at Ivan Passer’s Cutter’s Way (1981), new on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome.
Next up, Dennis has delivered his take on Don Owen’s Nobody Waved Goodbye (1964) on Blu-ray, also from Vinegar Syndrome.
Last but not least: Tim has taken a deep dive into Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, and Corey Yuen’s Dragons Forever (1988) which is new on 4K Ultra HD from the good people of 88 Films.
Keeping on the 4K theme today, retail sources are finally starting to confirm word we first broke here at The Bits back on December 19th (see here), specifically that the Star Trek: The Next Generation feature films are going to be arriving from Paramount on 4/4, just in time for “First Contact Day” and also the final episodes of Terry Matalas’ Star Trek: Picard – Season Three! All right, quick update today...
First of all, I’m going to be finishing my Aquaman 4K review later today, so watch for that sometime before the end of the day.
Meanwhile, Tim has posted a couple more Blu-ray reviews here today, including his look at Herschell Gordon Lewis’s Color Me Blood Red (1965) from Arrow Video and Dennis’ take on Boy Erased from Universal.
And on Friday, Tim posted his thoughts on HGL’s The Wizard of Gore (1970) from Arrow and Geoff Murphy’s The Quiet Earth (1985) from Umbrella Entertainment.
Also here at the site today, Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Anytime you order literally anything from Amazon after clicking through to them from one of our links (like this one), you’re helping to keep The Bits alive and we really, really appreciate it. Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, Isle of Dogs, Peter Rabbit & speculation on potential late-2018 4K catalog titles
All right, we’re starting the new week this afternoon with a trio of fresh Blu-ray reviews…
First up, Tim has checked out Scalpel (1977) on BD from Arrow Video, as well as Val Guest’s When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970) from the Warner Archive Collection.
I’ve also just posted my thoughts on the Warner Archive’s long-awaited Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero on Blu-ray, a great upgrade of the original direct-to-DVD release and a nice aperitif for their upcoming release of the complete Batman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray later in 2018. Enjoy! [Read on here...]
