All right, folks... we have some release news for you this afternoon.

But first, I’ve posted a review of Rob Reiner’s classic coming of age film Stand by Me on 4K Ultra HD. It streets on 8/27 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and it’s well worth a look. You can read more here.

The big release news today is that the Criterion Collection has announced their November Blu-ray and DVD slate, which is set to include Greg Mottola’s The Daytrippers (Spine #1001 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 11/12, Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Betty Blue (Spine #1002 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War (Spine #1005 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 11/19, and Joseph L. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has set Shaft (2019) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/24, with the Digital release expected on 9/10. It looks like there will not be a physical 4K Ultra HD release on this title. Extras on the Blu-ray will include the Can Ya Dig It? The Making of Shaft featurette, the 3-part A Complicated Man: The Shaft Legacy documentary (includes Part One: A Bad Mother Born, Part Two: No Questions Asked, and Part Three: A Legend of His Time), deleted scenes, and a gag reel.

We mentioned HBO’s Deadwood: The Movie yesterday. Retail sources are now suggesting to us that the title will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD in the States on 10/8.

Meanwhile, Scream Factory has set Prophecy, Dracula (1979), and The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas for Blu-ray release on 11/26. They also have The Fan coming on 11/19, a Road Games: Collector’s Edition coming on 11/12, and The Blob: Collector’s Edition and The Devil Rides Out due on 10/29.

Shout! Factory will release a Rock ’n’ Roll High School: 40th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray on 11/19. They also have The Nutty Professor: Collector’s Edition due on 11/12 and Private School coming on 10/29. And look for MST3K: Season Twelve on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/16.

VCI Entertainment is releasing a number of classic Universal film serials on Blu-ray, including Jungle Queen (1945) on 12/17, The Phantom Creeps (1939), The Red Rider (1934), The Roaring West (1935), and Mysterious Mr. M (1946) on 11/12, and The Human Monster (1939-1940 – aka The Dark Eyes of London) on 10/29. Boy, we would kill to see them release the original Flash Gordon (1936), Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars (1938), Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940), and Buck Rogers (1939) serials. Fingers crossed!

High Octane Pictures will release the He-Man documentary Power of Grayskull on DVD and Digital on 9/3.

And finally today, don’t forget that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete Series – Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Mystery Mansion on 9/3, including all 41 classic episodes remastered, a Digital copy of the series, and swag including a mini Scooby-Doo Encyclopedia for SRP $89.99 (Amazon currently has it for $81).
