The Big Lebowski & Jurassic World 5-Film set coming to 4K, plus new Kino & Shout/Scream titles

by

All right, let’s have a quick update with more breaking release news…

Many months after we first told you it was coming, Universal is finally bringing The Big Lebowski to 4K Ultra HD on 10/16, with both regular and limited editions available (the latter can be seen below, packed with swag). We’re awaiting the official announcement, but both are now listed for pre-order on Amazon.com (click here and here to see them).

Also, the studio is releasing a Jurassic World: 5-Film Collection on 4K Ultra HD on 9/18, day and date with the home video release of Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K. So those of you who waited to pick up all the earlier films in 4K hoping for a 5-film box, now’s your chance. You can see the cover art art right and you can pre-order it here.

Note that we’ve updated the 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with this information and pre-order links for a number of additional upcoming 4K titles. [Read on here...]

Now then… Kino Lorber has announced the Kino Lorber Studio Classics release of Lewis Allen’s Desert Fury (1947) for release on Blu-ray and DVD. Street date is TBA. They’ve also set Robert Siodmak’s The Spiral Staircase (1945) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/2, remastered in HD from a new 4K scan of the restored fine-grain master. And they’ve also set Robert Stevens’ The Ghost of Sierra de Cobre (1964) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/16.

Finally, our friends at Shout! Factory have announced their next Shout Select Blu-ray title for release on 11/20, which is none other than Leos Carax’s Holy Motors: Collector’s Edition. They also have The Blue Dahlia (1946) coming as a Shout Select release on 11/13. Sleepwalkers is officially set for Blu-ray release on 11/6, followed by Single White Female and a double feature of Naked Vengeance/Vendetta on 11/13. The Urban Legend: Collector’s Edition is now officially set for release on Blu-ray on 11/20, along with Urban Legends: The Final Cut the same day. Candyman is also set for 11/20, with a double feature of Munchies/Munchie, and The Critters Collection all coming on Blu-ray on 11/27. You can now pre-order all of these on their website.

Speaking of which, the Shout! website also now features the latest podcast episode of Shout!Takes which is none other than our recent Breaking News from Shout! Factory and Scream Factory panel from San Diego Comic-Con. You can listen to the whole thing here.

All right, that’s all for this week. Catch you back here on Monday with more news and reviews.
