Boy, this is a big news day! We’ve got official word of titles we’ve been reporting on here at The Bits for many weeks now. So let’s get right to it...

First of all, Marvel Studios and Disney have just announced Avengers: Endgame for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/13, with the Digital release expected on 7/30. (And that is just as we predicted here on The Bits and have had listed in our 4K Ultra HD Release List here for quite a while.) Audio on the 4K will be Dolby Atmos, while the Blu-ray will feature 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Look for HDR10 on the 4K disc.

Extras will include audio commentary by directors Anthony and Joe Russo with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, 7 featurettes (Remembering Stan Lee, Setting the Tone: Casting Robert Downey Jr., A Man Out of Time: Creating Captain America, Black Widow: Whatever It Takes, The Russo Brothers: Journey to Endgame, The Women of the MCU, and Bro Thor), 6 Deleted Scenes (including Goji Berries, Bombs on Board, Suckiest Army in the Galaxy, You Used to Frickin’ Live Here, Tony and Howard, and Avengers Take a Knee), a Gag Reel, and an intro by directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The Digital version will also include an exclusive featurette... Steve and Peggy: One Last Dance. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below. [Read on here...]

Morning, folks! Hope you all had a great weekend.

We’ve got an early post for you today with a few things, not the least of which is that we now know what the packaging for HBO’s long-awaited From the Earth to the Moon Blu-ray set will look like. You can see that at left and also below. It’s now available for pre-order on Amazon (click here or on the cover below) with a street date of 7/16 (SRP $39.99 but Amazon has it for just $22.99).

We don’t yet know all the details of the set, but we know that you’ll get all 12 parts on 3 Blu-rays. As you can see from the packaging, it notes that the episodes have been digitally remastered. And we know that the set will include the Inside the Remastering Process featurette. Watch for an official announcement any day now.

We’ve also just posted the weekly update of our Release Dates and Artwork section here at The Bits, featuring all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K cover art and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order literally anything after clicking to Amazon from one of our links, you’re helping to support our work here at the site and we really appreciate it very much. All right, we have a quick late breaking news update for you today.

We’ve gotten a flurry of release information from our retail sources this afternoon, including both U.S. and international sources.

Based on that, we now predict the following U.S. street dates for upcoming Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD titles.

Keep in mind, these titles are not yet officially announced, but are likely to be in the coming weeks.

These are in addition to those titles already announced by the studios.

If Amazon pre-order links are available, we’ve added them to the titles (we expect more to go live soon).

We’ll post further updates here on The Bits, in our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at the site, and on our social media channels as new information comes in.

Stay tuned and have a great weekend!

All right, I’m back on Facebook finally and things seem to be settling back to some kind of normal. So today’s post is going to have a lot of 4K news, with a bit of Blu-ray too, and then we’ll have a big Blu-ray catch up post tomorrow...

First though, we’ve got a couple more new Blu-ray reviews for you: Tim has taken a look at Scared Stiff from Arrow Video, while Dennis has offered his thoughts on The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970) from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Enjoy!

Now then, we have a bunch of great 4K Ultra HD release news for you, starting with confirmation that Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth is officially coming to the format from Warner and New Line in July. We don’t yet have a street date, but it’s already up for pre-order here on Amazon (you can see the cover artwork at left and also below). And I must say, of all the titles that could benefit from 4K, wide color gamut, and HDR, this is near the top of the list! Of course, we’ll post more details when they’re officially announced. Today’s update is a very quick one, as I’m still recovering from the flu while also trying to get the new Marvel 4K titles reviewed here on The Bits.

The first of those reviews is up now: My take on Captain America: Civil War in 4K Ultra HD. It’s a worthy upgrade of the previous Blu-ray, with a new Dolby Atmos mix and HDR10 (but only in 2.39:1 – no IMAX ratio).

My thoughts on Captain America: The Winter Solider are coming soon as well, so be sure to watch for them. And don’t forget, I posted my review of Ridley Scott’s Alien in 4K on Friday.

In the meantime today, Tim has posted reviews of Scream Factory’s Warning Sign and The Manitou on Blu-ray, along with Shout! Factory’s Hang ’Em High: 50th Anniversary Edition. And we have a Blu-ray review from David too, this of Indicator’s Take a Girl Like You. Enjoy! [Read on here...]
